Homeowners beware of Excalibur Contractors and Tony Wiley (owner).
I contracted with this company for a total home renovation in the approximate amount of $75k. He told us he was a "general contractor" but he only has a home improvement contractor’s license (meaning he cannot contract for more than $24,999 and does not have the requisite skills to be a general contractor) He made 3 contracts up in an attempt to skate around the law. Some of the work was done very shoddy, some work was not even attempted and he abandoned the job when he had received all the money 5 ½ months later. I reported him to the TN Contractors Licensing Board and they fined him. I filed suit in Chancery Court of Hamilton County, TN, Docket # 10-0263, and won judgment in the amount of $182,000 plus, based upon Breach of Contract and the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act (fraud), among others. This company is a total rip-off. I would not hire them to build a dog house and I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. I really wish I could post the pictures of some of the work he did to give you a better idea of what I am talking about, they speak volumes. Being licensed and bonded in TN is only as good as the contractor actually turning over the lawsuit to the insurance company and he does not so being bonded and insured means nothing to the homeowner.
