They don't know anything about hydroponics 2/17/2011

This is a store that specializes in hydroponics, yet they don't seem to know anything about hydroponics. I didn't know what size pots to buy for growing different plants in a fill and drain system, and they recommended the wrong sizes (which I bought and then found out were too small). I had some questions about nutrients and supplements which they couldn't answer. It seems like you don't have to know anything to work there. Furthermore, I found the manager extremely rude. If you know exactly what you want and don't have any questions, it would be fine to shop there. However, don't rely on any advice they give you. It's probably wrong. more

Big store 9/16/2010

I thought this store was really cool. I only stopped in to pick up a couple things they didn't have at my local store. The store it self is huge. The prices are good, and it looked like they had good stock. Check them out Blackberry Jerry more

BEWARE!! This store doesn't their pay vendor bills! 7/7/2010

These people are a bunch of scam artists! Beware! Don't order any POWERBOX products from them!! They order from us and don't pay their bills!! HA HA!! Out of 300 stores we sell to nationwide, this is the only store that has ever refused to pay their invoices!!! They must be about to go out of business?? Who knows... Plenty of other options - I would avoid this store!! Pros: They act nice and place large orders... Cons: THEY DON""T PAY FOR THEM!! more

i love this place 10/29/2009

this is the only shop worth shopping at in portland if quality, price and great free information matter to you. i stopped in just to check them out last tuesday and was amazed at the size #1- they've got about 2x as much inventory as the others in town, and name brand, recognizable stuff not no-name cheap stuff you've never heard of. #2- they really know what they're talking about (and i grilled em about nutes, bugs all sorts of stuff). #3- its not shady like the other guys shops... love it, will shop here exclusively as long as i am in pdx Pros: knowledgeable staff more

Terrible Customer Service and unfriendly! First and last time shopping there! 8/3/2008

I went in and found a couple items that I wanted, but they were out of stock on the quantity I needed.\r When I went to the counter, they told me that they would have them the next day, If I pre-paid, using a credit card. So, I did. it has now been a week and I still have not been able to get the products I was promised.\r Also, when I asked some advice regarding THEIR products, they seemed completely uneducated; and said I'd be better off looking for information about hydroponic vegetable gardening on-line.\r \r When there, a customer standing next to me asked about a product that they had on display, *(an LED light) before the guy could finish his question, the guy said, ""Stay Away from them, they're garbage."" when the customer replied, ""Why?"" the answer was less than reasonable, the clerk explained that they had only received them in a day or so before and that the it seemed to be working as the manufcr. described, but could offer no further explanation. Counter staff seems less than friendly, and none are on the same page.\r \r Many better alternatives to buying these types of products. Cons: ALL more

Not For Everybody... 7/16/2006

I went to Everybody's Garden Center last Saturday as I've driven by many times and never been inside. It seemed like a nice store and I picked up some fertilizer for my garden and a staff member helped pick out some plant food for me (good stuff, but $14.99 a bottle). I was a little hesitant after buying it and decided on Monday to return the bottle and get my money back. When I went up to the counter, the staff did not seem friendly and I was immediately told that they do not give cash refunds and if I wanted store credit, there would be a 15% re-stocking fee. She showed me on my receipt that it said both. I told her that I could EASILY put it back on the shelf myself if she wanted, as I thought a 15% re-stocking fee to place something 20 feet away on an eye-level shelf seemed absurd. She simply said ""That's business."" Bad business, I think. However, it must havebeen my lucky day as she did offer to let me get the full $14.99 value of my return if I bought something right now. After wandering, I found a piece of garden equipment that was marked $12.79, next to similar (but different) items marked $14.99. I grabbed the cheaper and a packet of $2 plant food and wanted to check out. It turns out that all the $12.79 tools were mis-marked (there were at least 20+) and mine was also $14.99. There was no offer to match the stamped price on the tool or cut any slack at all. I returned the plant food and exchanged the goods and left in poor spirits.\r \r Everybody's Garden Center is definitely not for me. Any place that does not offer to exchange un-opened, un-used goods for a customer's money back and charges a 15% re-stocking fee for ALL goods does not deserve Everybody's business. I won't be going back. Pros: Lots of stuff Cons: Exchange policy stinks! more
