Editorial review from Citysearch 6/16/2013

I went in for a stress test / echocardiogram. Yes, the services received met my expectations. What did not was the exorbitant charges for this simple outpatient test. In all the charges were about $3,000. Just another example of hospital corporations and executive officers using their handy ""chargemaster"" (yes - it's a real term - look it up) to take money out of the public's hands to stuff in their pockets. Medicare - which bases payments on actual costs plus profit and overhead - would have paid 10-15% of that amount. The rest is excessive profit. Sadly, Evergreen is not unique in this example of corporate greed. more

Rapacious gouging of patient's through 4/30/2012

Rapacious gouging of patient's through superfluous charges. They will perform procedures that appear to serve no other purpose than to rake in your money and fill their bloated administrative staff's guts. more

This group of excellent care givers has been a godsend to my husband over the past 5 years. They are some team! Well informed medically and highly skilled, kind, considerate and informative. They take a personal interest in those, who need emergency help and are deeply invested in the successful treatment of their patients and the support of their family/loved ones. more

Stay Away from this hospital's Emergency Medical Ctr 11/11/2011

A very terrible experience at the Emergency Room as my pregnant wife ended up with a miscarriage after she was incorrectly diagnosed and treated by a group of incompetent ER doctor, nurses, and test lab technicians.\r \r The only person that spent time in our ER room last Saturday night was the person who collected our insurance information and the $50 ER deductible. The rest of the medical team (1 doctor, 2 nurses) were all in the ER room less than 3 minutes each.\r \r Instead of treating my wife for the pregnacy related issues that she was having, after one hour at the ER, my wife was given a medicine for a medical condition that she did not have then she was sent home. Twelve hours later she had a miscarriage. \r \r The next day, my wife's OB doctor ordered a blood test and it showed that my wife did not have the medical condition that the ER doctor said she had. The hospital refused to send my wife's OB doctor the lab test results from that night. more

Evergreen Hospital Reckless Discharge Procedure 10/4/2011

I am writing this to document what happened to me on June 4, 2011 after I woke up in the emergency room at Evergreen Hospital. \r \r I was admitted early to mid-afternoon (not certain of time) and discharged close to Midnight. I have no memory of how I got to the ER or why I was there. I don more

Over all a great hosptal--great experiences 11/30/2009

It used to be that if you needed a full service hospital, then you had to go across the Lake, not anymore. I have had surgeries day and overnight stays in the hospital, my primary care doctor is there inside of the hospital, my neurologist is across the street from the emergency room and I even had my breast reduction there by a Board Certified Plastic surgeon who did a fantastic job who even accepted my insurance. No hospital is perfect but Evergreen has served me well!! Thank you Evergreen Hospital, to you administrative executive staff, your medical staff, your hospital staff, your maintenance staff, your volunteer staff and for anyone else in between I am forgetting for serving me and the rest of our community well. Keep up the great workl!! Pros: full services--no need to go to Seattle-Evergreen has it all more

Terrible! Drive the extra miles to another hospital! 9/14/2009

My cousin just recently went to Evergreen with extreme pain in her arm from a fall. They made her wait, didn't bandage her cuts before she left, the xray tech was rude because she was not able to get her shirt off by herself.\r \r The nurses were rude, terse, and have no bedsite manner. I am disgusted and will next time drive the extra time to another hospital. Have had nothing but bad experiences with this hospital -- they should be shut down. Cons: Rude, long waits, no bedsite, could care less. more

doesnt hold themselves accountable 9/11/2009

my Mother , a well respected woman of the Eastside community, died a horrible death at the hands of Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland on Dec 31,2006 and I really think this story needs to be told and or Evergreen Hospital needs to be investigated and held responsible. On Dec. 29,2006 my mother was admitted in to Evergreens emergency dept. . She was complaining of leg pain. Tests were done and there was nothing that they could find other than my mother’s health had been declining since her treatments of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. After attempts to make her comfortable with pain meds and Anti Anxiety meds the stenographer left the room and forgot to put the security railing back up on the gurney. My mother sat up and fell out of the bed face and chest first, smashing her face and immediately having a heart attack which resulted in her death. The hospital has taken Zero responsibility and and had changed their story at least 3 times about the railing being left down. Finally they blamed my sister for putting the railing down which was a blatant lie. My sister was in the room only to witness our mother falling out of the bed and hearing the sound of her hitting the floor which has resulted in my sisters PTSD. It is very bad and she will never be the same. When I finally arrived at the hospital from Idaho my mother was on life support, which was against her wishes, and her face and arm were terribly bruised. I feel that the hospital knew that they made a mistake and went against her wishes hoping she would recover. She never did. Now they are lying about this misfortune and trying to sweep it under the carpet. they have put us through the ringer trying to trash our families credibility and dragging it out for almost 3 years now. We are not a wealthy family and we can no longer afford the legal fees to go forward and with the hospitals knowledge of this they decided to not settle and put us through the ringer. Causing us to have to give up on the case. Basically they knew that this would happen and now they can sweep it under the carpet. This is a great injustice and it’s sad that an institution as big as Evergreen Hospital will not just admit that they were negligent and at least apologize .the case has been officially dismissed...we just couldn't afford to go any further. more

Great surgery services 3/20/2009

I was very pleased with the excellent nursing care in the surgical holding area and recovery area. I would like to especially thank the anesthesiologist (Rodriguez) for listening to my needs and making me feel very safe and comfortable. I would highly recommend Evergreen Hospital for surgery. \r However, their billing department leaves a lot to be desired! \r more

Recommended for Birthing services 4/24/2007

We had our first child birth at Evergreen during the massive wind storm and power outages of December-2006. We received quality care while the entire hospital was on backup generators for two days. Their maternity store has a great selection, though it is a bit overpriced. The cafeteria is decent and I only ventured out for food once in three days. We also had a great experience at newborn care classes before the birth.\r \r I recommend them for your delivery with a few reservations. They are provided so you don't fall into the same traps we did.\r \r Be aware of the level of service from the night nurses- we had one that treated our child roughly and seemed incompetent. We requested a different nurse and never saw her again.\r \r Also, the hospital admits a lot of vultures who take advantage of the fears of new parents. There is fetal cord banking - an unproven technology. There is also a hearing test on your newborn, which is considered experimental and most insurances will NOT cover. They make you sign a release form making you liable if insurance denies it. \r \r At least three researchers visited us requesting everything from fetal cord to year-long participation in surveys. When you're taking care of your newborn, these visits are the last thing you need.\r \r Don't let these reservations turn you away from this excellent hospital. These are common pitfalls at other hospitals as well. As long as you say no when appropriate, you will not be disappointed.\r \r Atlanta | Boston | Chicago | Dallas | Denver | Houston | Las Vegas | Los Angeles | New York | Oakland more
