I went to Esty's to buy a glass chimney for my hurricane lamp. They are pricey, but I support mom & pop shops and have given them business in the past. Upon buying the fragile chimney for ~$10, I asked for a box.The owner said "no box" & then wrapped it in thin paper, assured me it would be fine & placed it, along with my base, into a brown paper bag. At home I discovered a hairline crack in the glass. I returned to Esty's to find a new chimney. Not knowing if the crack occurred b/c it was placed in the bag with my base, I asked if she would work with me on the price of replacement. I was told no. I reminded her that it was not wrapped properly for which she stated it was. I reminded her I asked for a box, because this was a fragile piece and denied, As far as I'm concerned this breakage is part her fault. I didn't buy the replacement. Don't fall for this scam and make the same mistake I did. INSIST the purchase be wrapped in bubble wrap & boxed or walk away!!! She could have offered a $2 discount on the replacement & I would have been a happy customer. Now I'll never give her my business again.
