High Praise for Estilo Valdez 12/4/2011

When I first came to this salon, my hair was very short and gray, with frizzy, unruly curls. I had struggled with it for years and longed for a change. Haley suggested BKT treatments, and the results have been transformative. With Haley's expert cuts and BKT, I now have a smooth, chin-length bob, and for the first time in my life, I actually feel good about my hair. Plus, I get compliments! I recommend Haley highly. Recently, Jacqueline has been doing my BKT treatments, and she also does a wonderful job. The salon has a warm, lovely feeling, and the staff is great. I give them five well-deserved stars. more

My absolute favorite! 11/14/2011

I'm originally from Houston, and I have been going to the same stylist for cuts and highlights since middle school. When I moved up to Austin for school, I tried a few different salons, but would always save my highlights for when I went home for the holidays because no one was really worth going back to. My senior year of college I was referred to Melinda and I am so glad I took my friend's advice. Melinda is fabulous at absolutely everything. My highlights never lasted this long with any other stylist. It's a shame I didn't find her until the end of my time in Austin! more

Haley & Jacqueline are AMAZING 10/29/2011

I first found out about this salon from my mom. She was the previous owners (Ron) theater teacher in high school. The first time I went everyone was SO friendly and made me feel welcome. Haley has done my high lights for almost a year now and she does it PERFECT every time. Jacqueline cuts & styles my hair and she is equally amazing. I highly recommend either of these girls. This salon is very Austin, always playing great music. I will NEVER go anywhere else. more

Really love this salon. I've been in Austin for a long time and have tried many other salons, but Estilo Valdez has just the right combination of chic and casual. It's sooo Austin. The stylists are friendly, knowledgable and very talented. They make sure you feel comfortable. They listen to what you want, or if you don't know, they make suggestions. And they know what they are talking about. The decor is fun, too. They always have interesting art work on the walls, and if you are looking for Redken products, they have everything. I highly recommend this place. more

The best Redken salon - Angela is amazing! 10/12/2011

Every single visit to Estilo Valdez has been excellent. I started going to Estilo Valdez a few years ago just for color. I'm a long time Redken fan so whenever I move to a new city or area I look up a salon that uses Redken. There were several salons in Austin that I did not revisit before finding EV...when I happened into Estilo and sat down in Angela's chair I had finally found my permanent salon and stylist! The decor is great, the music is AWESOME (I secretly think they steal my ipod when I'm in) and Angela always listens to my requests, clarifies to make sure we're on the same page and then makes it look fabulous EVERY time - and I've gone from all blonde to dark red/brown! Since finding Angela I have recommended her to all of my friends and family and they have also been very happy with her skills and fun personality. more

I have a massive, beast-like mane of hair. It's long, thick, and curly/wavy. I've struggled for years to find stylists that can deal with my hair. Most of them honestly had no idea what to do, and it showed. Jacqueline is the first stylist that I feel 100% confident with. Every time I go in I come out looking even better than the last time. She's also super friendly and really easy to talk to. The salon itself has a really nice laid back vibe. I hate walking into a salon where the stylists seem too pretentious. All the girls at Estilo Valdez seem really down to Earth and it's a fun, relaxing environment to be in. I would HIGHLY recommend Jacqueline to anyone looking for the perfect cut/color. I've just moved out of Austin but I am seriously coming back to get my hair done by her - it's worth it! more

I'm one that likes to change up my hair style and color quite often, and Jacqueline has given me great results each time! She's given me some fantastic cuts, which is sometimes difficult with my extremely fine/straight hair, and always mixes a rich, beautiful color that really emphasizes the cut. She's definitely got a knack for knowing how to mix the perfect color for your skin-tone. more

Angela is the best curly cut stylist ever! 8/14/2011

Angela did a really good job on my hair cut! Thank you so much! I have straight hair in front and curly hair in back, and have never had any cut that was easy to maintain. Well, last night I went in the pool, got out washed my hair, and then went straight to sleep (with wet hair) I woke up this morning, and my hair still looks great! What a fantastic hair cut! Finally found!! 8/12/2011

I finally found a salon that is as skilled at styling as they are diligent about listening to their customers. In the past, I have either had issues communicating with the stylist or issues finding someone that can actually do what I want. I have found both in Melinda at Estilo Valdez. I have fine wavy/curly hair and she has done an amazing job of cutting it so that it looks great straightened OR curly. Run, don't walk!! more

Hayley is Amazing!! 8/10/2011

Hayley has been coloring my hair for over two years now!! Her knowledge of hair care and attention to detail amazes me everytime. I drive all the way from Dallas becuase I do not trust anyone else with my hair!! Everytime I leave the salon I am blown away with how amazing my hair looks, and the compliments I receive on the color are endless!! Thanks sooo much for always taking care of me Hay!! From the upgraded decor to the complimentary wine, walking into Estilo Valdez is like walking into a refreshing oasis in the midst of central Austin. I would come here for the ambiance alone - upscale yet unpretentious, and where the staff treats me like a member of the family. And, from the moment I sat in Hayley's chair, I could sense that something was going to be different. Her consult was professional and she was genuinely interested in me. By taking her time, she was able to determine the best cut to match my professional, yet active lifestyle. Boy did she deliver! I left the chair with the best cut I have ever had. I had such a great experience at this salon. I recently moved in to Austin from NJ and was looking for a nice salon with a professional but down to earth staff, and this is the place! I was treated like family from the moment I walked in. Laura, the new senior stylist, took great care of me. From the consultation to the color to the cut, I have NOT ONE complaint. I am very thankful my friend referred me to her. The staff is so friendly and genuine. I love the salon atmosphere, not stuffy or snobby, but just super professional and personal. I never have to wait, sometimes they are waiting on me, and everyone is very nice. I always am offered a beverage when i arrive. The atmosphere has changed recentl and i do like the new decor. Im not one to give reviews for anything, so trust me when i say you can be treated as a customer should be treated when you go to Estilo, with complete professionalism and care. more

My new favorite place 7/15/2010

I haven't enjoyed getting a haircut and style in such a LONG time! It was so nice to go to a new place and feel comforatable the minute you walk in the door...the staff was very friendly, especially my stylist Angela V. She had such a great personality and made me feel right at home. I wasn't sure what look or color I was going for but her unique style and taste quickly rubbed off on me :) She chose natural highlights for my hair and gave me a cut that I didn't have to take too much time to style. Which is great for me since I'm always on the go. I want to recommend this salon and Angela to anyone wanting professional experience along with friendly atmosphere and good conversation! Pros: great parking, friendly staff Cons: none yet more

WHy go anywhere else, but Angela Vega! 7/15/2010

I have been getting my hair cut by Angela Vega for 3years now, I have ventured to two other places, but have had to go back to Angela to get it done right. No more affairs, I am married to this styalist!!! Angela has an awesome persoanlity and is worth theDrive. I live 50 miles away, but will now commit to traveling where she is because she is the only one who can give a precise cut the way I like. The salon is a tranquil enviorment as well, but to get the right cut, you need not venture away from Ms. Angela or you'll regret it and have to come back so she can fix what another has messed up. I am just a nobody telling everbody about somebody! Pros: Never have to worry about getting a bad cut! Cons: None as of yet. more

Awsome hair style and color given by Angela! 7/14/2010

I'm very impressed overall with Estilo Valdez Salon, the owners and stylists but I have to sing praises to stylist Angela Vega in particular. She has been my stylist at Estilo Valdez since she began working there over a year and half ago and she's turn my love/hate relationship I have with my hair completely around. Everyone at the salon is warm and friendly and Angela's bubbly personality and smile instantly puts you at ease so it's very easy to talk to her about your hair concerns and what look you are going for. In the beginning, she had to work on getting my over processed hair healthy again and find a color that compliments me while at the same time covering up the dull, off color I previously had from too many home coloring kits. I was able to relax with a cup of hot tea and let Angela work her magic. Since I've been going exclusively to her, I have been complimented on how great my hair style and color looks and I feel wonderful about myself now. I won't go anywhere else! Pros: Warm atmosphere, talented & professional stylists Cons: Need to book way in advance most of the time;it's that good! more
