I decided to move to essex because of how close it was to CCSU, at the time it was the only thing open with two bathrooms. Even though I was lucky enough to live on the top floor (which is considered the quiet floor) I have been very unhappy with the apartments.
#1 Bed bug outbreak days after I signed my lease. It turns out that it was my future neighbor, the staff acted like they were doing me a favor by spraying my room.
#2 Everything is incredibly worn and poorly maintained. Our hotel style wall heaters (without thermostats) barely push the air out of the unit, they refused to fix because "they still run". Our windows iced over on the inside and constantly grow black mold (must be bleached every two days). The carpets were disgusting and had nails sticking out of the edges. Metal closet doors are badly dented and damaged. Tiles are incredibly crooked and covered with paint from sloppy work. There were so many layers of gloss paint that we could not use 3m strips to hold up a light picture frame (the frame fell to the floor, ripping of about four layers of paint and cracking the frame).
3) Parking, this place tows and pretends like it isn't their fault $100 per tow, cash only. My vehicle was towed twice, even though the parking pass was visible on the dash board. The manager told me that it wasn't their fault, even though the police disagreed. State law states that every vehicle towed from premises must have EXPRESS written consent from the facility. II told her that if my car was towed again I would sue and she magically put my name on some special list so that they would not tow me. lol, it's funny how quickly she changed her tune.
4) Noise, lets face it this is a college dorm. There are parties every night of the weekend and it can get pretty loud.Usually once every 2 months the fire alarm is pulled at late hours and there is no way to sleep through the fire alarm because there is a very loud speaker in your living room.
TLDR, expensive price for mediocre facilities.
