Massage good, customer service...meh 2/16/2011

I went for a couples massage. The setting was great. The room was appropriately lit and the sound atmosphere was good (soft music, trickling water). The massage beds were VERY comfortable, and heated! They had us undress "to our comfort level." The massage was amazing. I forget my gal's name, but she was excellent, in both demeanor and massage skills. The massage was a great treat. My partner had a different woman, I think she was the owner, and he didn't like her massaging as well. A big downside for me, and the reason I won't go back, is their customer service. I found them to be near impossible to get ahold of (in calling probably a half-dozen times, I never once got a person), brusque, and unorganized. Unprofessional. Just making an appointment took way more of my time than I'd be willing to spend again, and it left a sour note for me. I just don't want to deal with that again! Once I was there, they were great though. more

Is there an "unlike" button? 11/28/2010

I've gone here a few times and up until recently was always pretty happy with my treatments. I didn't know they offered acupuncture, they don't list it, but they are usually pretty nice and I've always liked my massages. The other day though as I was sitting there waiting for my therapist (who was late), the phone kept ringing. The lady sitting at the desk, who is the owner I think, the heavier one, let it ring and made a comment about not wanting to deal with it. I sat there wondering how many times I had called and gotten the voicemail and if she was sitting there and just didn't want to answer the phone. It takes days sometimes to get a call back, and there's always new therapists. They may be good at giving massages but they're horrible at customer service. Go somewhere else. It's not worth $70 when they don't want to "deal with you" in the first place. more

Great Place for Massage Therapy!! 7/3/2009

Excellent place to relax or have some real work done on your muscles. The staff is very friendly and know what they're doing. I felt very at ease and not intimidated by any of them. It's also in a good centralized location and parking is usually never a problem. Pros: Experienced therapists, Nice location. Cons: None more

Wonderful therapists! 5/18/2009

Essential life Therapy is great for anyone, all the therapists are great! They each have there special skills and techniques and you can find a therapist that works just right for you. They are a group of down to earth, passionate massage therapists. I love the prices, the cozy rooms and the the delicious chocolate treat they leave in the room for you! Great place to get a massage! Pros: Cozy tables, skilled therapists, great location! more

Great Massage 5/18/2009

Fantastic, reasonably priced massages. I've been in at least 6 times, seen a few different therapists and they were all great. Dawn was particularly good at working my trouble spots. Will definitely ask for her in the future. No pomp and circumstance like a fancy day spa, just a few clean, comfortable rooms and an affordable 90min massages! Pros: Easy to get next day or same day appts. more

Awesome massage 5/18/2009

I have had chronic back problems since I was young. Because of this, I have gone through physical therapy, tons of massage, and chiropractic work. Finding Essential Life Therapy has been fantastic. I have received some of the best massage in my life. They always take their time and work into the muscles slowly. I leave feeling relaxed, with my body aligned and so much healthier. I like that they are a small clinic that focuses specifically on massage and acupuncture. I get the relaxation of a spa, but I know the therapists are focused on improving my physical health, not just relaxing me for the afternoon. Pros: Relaxing deep tissue work more

Great massages 5/15/2009

I have been going to Essential Life Therapy for about 4 years. I have had different massage therapists and been pleased with the quality of all of the massages. My favorite now is Dawn. The atmosphere is no frills, which I like. It is clean and the owners will always try to get you in at the last minute if they can. Excellent customer service! Pros: Will schedule last minute massages more

My favorite massage studio in Seattle! 5/13/2009

I love Essential Life because I can call at the last minute and almost always book an appointment. The studio is small, footsteps from downtown Fremont, parking is free and easy, and while it's not too frilly, you still get the spa-like ambiance inside. Every masseuse I've seen has been great - recently it's been Dawn, who gives a great deep-tissue massage. The price is right, and if you get massages frequently, I believe Essential still offers a program where you pay a small fee upfront and then get $20 off of ALL massages for a year - hour our 90 minute. Totally worth it! Highly recommend essential - it's a great find. Pros: Clean, easy to make appointments, cheap, great service Cons: None that I can think of more

Great massage in a welcoming environment 5/6/2009

I've been getting massages from Reanna here for several years, mostly for relaxation and stress relief. She always asks about problem areas and knows how to soothe them. Recently I needed some specific therapeutic massage while recovering from orthopedic surgery and she used a completely different technique to ease, actually eliminate, my pain. It was great to know she has all the knowledge and techniques needed for any situation. The massage rooms are clean, warmly decorated and large (no tiny rooms like in many salons!). I'll never go anywhere else. Pros: Personalized attention, knowledgeable professionals Cons: ?? Can't think of one! more

Best massage in Seattle! 4/27/2009

I have been getting deep tissue massages here for several years and recently I began getting myofacial massages as well. I have found regular massage maintenance is the way to go, especially if you have a desk job! I have been to many other massage therapists in the past, but this place is a true gem! I will continue to support Essential Life Therapy, in part, because it is a small local company, owned and operated by two very gifted massage therapists. For years I have been recommending it to my friends, so I am happy to post my comment for all to see. Pros: owner operated, cozy decor, professional staff, free parking Cons: not a high-frills, glamorous chain spa (which is also a pro) more

i have finally found my masseuse!! 3/13/2006

This'll be my 1st citysearch comment and that just means I liked my massage experience that much! My therapist, Ericka, is awesome! She is friendly, a great listener and she really seems to know her techniques. The place is very cute, parking is never a problem and their prices aren't ridiculous. Another plus, a relaxing foot bath before my massage! Pros: talented, cost, parking more

Best massage in the city 1/31/2006

I've been seeing Reanna for about three years for deep tissue work. Yes, I have cheated one time, but came back as no one else can do deep tissue as Reanna and Erika. They are the best. The atmosphere is great and they give you recommendations on recovering both physically and mentally.... more

Great staff, great massage! 1/16/2006

Essential Life Therapy is a warm, inviting and wonderful place to treat yourself to a fabulous massage. Each staff member from whom I have received a treatment has been extremely skilled and client-centered. The space provides a relaxing atmosphere from the colors to the music and, of course, the massage. There is no sales pressure and the owners are obviously very genuinely committed to health and healing. Highly recommended! Pros: Caring, friendly, Relaxing atmosphere, Skilled staff more

i've been to many massage therapists and few apply enough pressure when i ask for a deep tissue massage. the therapist at essential life was excellent. she did a wonderful job finding my trouble zones and working them out. i'll be back! Pros: professional massage, easy parking more

My opinion of Essential Life 7/18/2005

Essential life is a great self care establishment. I have had massage from three of the massage therapists and have been happy with all three of the massages. I would highly recommend Essential Life to anybody. It is also conveniently located at the corner of 34th and Burke, right up the street from Gasworks. I've never had any trouble with finding parking. Pros: Good parking, Great energy, Refreshing & relaxed Cons: usually prebooked more
