Amazing Hair Care 2/20/2009

A couple of years ago, I moved from New York City to the Chicago metropolitan area; however, I was wearing an afro and did not have need of a stylist. The online reviews for Eseence VIP and Terez were all really good and I decided to make an appointment. It was one of the best decisions that I could have made. Terez and her staff are very professional and timely. I arrived shortly before my appointment and was helped as soon as I walked in the door. Since I was transitioning from an afro back into a perm, I was unsure as to what type of hair cut I really wanted. Terez made that decision and started cutting. As she cut, you could see my hair start to take shape. She gave me a style that is low maintenance, versatile and looks very professional. Terez explained the condition of my hair and then gave me instructions on upkeep, including hair care tips for working out, and she recommended products for home use.\r \r Essence is a beautiful salon with a calm atmosphere and a clean environment. I did not have to spend my entire day in the salon and my style had plenty of shine and the cut was absolutely beautiful. Ever after leaving the salon, I was able to maintain my style with ease and my hair has kept its shine. I recommend Essence and Terez if you are looking for a hair salon where you do not have to spend the entire day in the salon, professional and clean. The best ethnic hair care salon in Lake County! 10/23/2008

Essence VIP is the best ethnic hair care salon in Lake County! The owner/stylist Terez, is highly skilled in various hair care and style techniques. She takes time to listen to what the client wants done to their hair. She also evaluates the condition of your hair, and gives her professional recommendations for the best treatment for your particular hair type. Since I've been going to her I have been getting many compliments on how great my hair looks. Terez believes in making each client look their very best! Pros: Excellent hair care services, nice staff, clean atmosphere, great parking. Cons: None. more

Best Hair Salon in the North Suburbs 4/12/2008

Since moving to the North Suburbs 7 years ago, I have had a hard time finding a good hair salon. I started going to Essence VIP in the summer of 2007. I was recovering from surgery and my hair was in terrible condition. When I walked into the salon, Terez diagnosed the problems, applied the right conditioners and I walked out with my hair looking better than it had in years. I've been going to her ever since. The shop on Milwaukee Ave. in Gurnee is a beautiful and serene. You never have to wait for service, the staff is friendly and professional. I'm glad I finally found Essence VIP. My experience at Essence VIP Salon was priceless! Terez is a seasoned professional who is well versed in Black hair care. She takes time to evaluate the condition of your hair before counseling. Further, her staff is not only highly professional, but well trained. Terez is skilled at scalp treatments, relaxers, precision cuts, wellness treatments, etc. Her pricing structure is affordable and reasonable. Essence VIP salon is truly Lake County's rare gem! Great, quality haircare! 3/5/2008

I have been going to Terez/Essence ever since I was in high school. She has always provided great haircare and my hair is very healthy. It was only that I went to a salon with cheaper prices did I realize how you get what you pay for. My hair got damaged by two other beauticians, but Terez always knew how to repair my hair. I always get compliments on my hair wherever I go. She is great and so is Sam! I hope she never retires or I don't know what I will do for haircare. The Best Salon In Lake County!!!!! 3/3/2008

I started going to Essence VIP in June of 2007. I can't believe how wonderful my looks. Every place I go, people are constantly asking me ""who does your hair?"". Terez is very professional. She not only cares about your hair, she also cares about your health. She believes that your hair can only look good if you take of yourself from the inside out. I really appreciate how she listens to what I want to do with my hair and then advises me on whether or not it will be good for my hair. Samantha is also very helpful with suggestions on color. Great customer service 3/3/2008

Terez is a very professional person. I been with her for a long time. I wouldn't trade her for the world. If there is something wrong with your hair she will take the time out and explain it to you, she will give you papers to read about hair treatments. she will get you end and out with little of time, very fast in whatever she do. Now I have my daughter going to her and she love the way she do her hair. Keep up the good work Terez. And your location is great. Pros: very good location more

Best hair care experience anyone could ask for 2/26/2008

I was going to have surgery on my right shoulder and needed a hair cut I could manage. I needed to maintain a professional well groomed look without the use of my right hand. Terez gave me the perfect cut and gorgeous color. She had usable advise on how to maintain the short sassy hair style she gave me. I manage a hospital department where appearance is key!! She did an excellent job. She listened to my needs and sculpted her experise to give me the look I wanted and the help I needed. She has a customer for life. Pros: Years of experience show. If you are looking for quality service, and great hair care... go to Essence VIP. Teresa is a fabulous Hair Stylist, who cares about the health of your hair, not just making it look good. I am extremely impressed with this hair salon. The calm and serene environment makes you feel right at home. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Once you get passed the beautiful decor, the smiles, and the wonderful environment, it is all topped off with the talent. My hair is beautiful, manageable and the outcome exceeded my expectations. Great salon and atmosphere 2/15/2008

Whenever I arrive I'm always nicely greeted by the staff. I never have to wait and my services are started right away. It's beautifully decorated and cozy. In the past I visited salons where I'm sitting to myself thinking ""I should have packed a lunch."" That is never the case. She also has literature she has written about the most benefical way to maintain my style and hair care at home, very detailed stuff. I mean she even included what vitamins one should takedaily. Never in my life have I been so satisfied with salon services like I recieve at Essence V.I.P. I've been having my hair professionally cared for all my life, and having relocated here I saw one of her clients at Gurnee Mills and she reccommened Terez to me If only I would have gotten her name I would personally thank her. I've been Terez's client for over 10 years and she's always been professional in her dealings with clients, co-workers and employees! In fact, I'm inspired every time I go to Essence V.I.P. ""Why"", you ask? Here are a few reasons:\r \r The atmosphere in her shop speaks loudly, as if to say, ""Welcome, make yourself comfortable, you are at home."" While visiting EssenceVIP, I received the highest quality of professional haircare I've ever experienced. I have to drive roughly 50 miles round trip, but I do it gladly because I know I'm going to get the best quality and friendliest service possible. In addition, while there, I've witnessed many other very satisfied repeat customers. EssenceVIP is here for the long haul.
