He's a pretty nice guy and prices are reasonable, but the selection is very limited. He also doesn't accept credit cards and has very short business hours. more

I brought a one year old Poulan Pro mower to Ernie because it was surging, smoking, and burning too much gas. Ernie said he rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the filter and spark plug. Seven or eight mowings later the same problem returned. I would have thought the repair would have lasted longer. I won't bring it back to Ernie. more

This place is your true Mom & Pop type shop. Ernie is very helpful and takes the time to explain everything to you. I dropped my mower off for service and a sharpen and he had it back to me in a few days. I was also surprise at the price for everything, very reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone needing service. more

I have taken two power mowers for service in the past year. The first would start but then die out. I brought it to ******* Saw & Mower Service on Warwick Ave. in Warwick which is close to my house. They said the wait time was 4 weeks which was too long. I brought it to Ernie's and picked it up next day! It had needed a new head gasket and he charged the same amount that ******* said was their automatic charge for just looking at a mower. The second mower has no throttle control but seemed to run too slowly. Ernie helped me take it out of the car, started it, removed he engine cover and made a quick adjustment to the throttle screw. Ernie's on Ten Rod Road has been around for quite a few years. He must be fairly decent to last that long. After all, if even a small number of his customers felt they got the shaft, there would be quite a number by now grumbling being that he has been here for so long. You don't have all that much choice in NK for mower service. There is Don's on post road which is unfortunately also a dealership and tends to sway you that way when you show up with an old mower. And then there is Razee motor cycles which although technically a lawn care store as well, you would be hard pressed to get past all the leather and find anyone that really cares about your bum machine. My two experiences with Ernie were not very good both times. The charges were reasonable enough, but he always says he rebuilt the carburetor when in reality I think he just got it to start. (In each case my mower started a few more times and then did an encore as far as conking out). You will have to decide for yourself if it was just my bad luck, or if this was two times Ernie fudged it somewhere. Personally I recommend an old time hand mower like I bought last year. Then like me you will be able to bid a fond farewell to Ernie and all the others for ever more.. Pros: He's Here Cons: Mini Monopoly more
