This is in regards to the men’s Cartier Pasha watch I purchased in March of 2012 as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. At first glance I was disappointed that the watch looked very worn. There were scratches that should have been buffed out. Several bits of the acrylic painted numbers were missing from the bezel and the band was in less than mediocre condition. This all indicated the fact that the watch had been worn, which I was expecting. Considering that these were superficial issues, it seemed to be “nature of the beast”, so to speak.\r

Now having several months to wear the watch, I conclude that the sale of the watch in its condition was the problem. Two major issues presented themselves thus stomping my faith in the transaction. \r

First, I was told that a new band was put on the watch a week before. It certainly was not new, showing clear signs of wear and tear. We had to replace it because kept breaking open (pins & clasp).\r

My second complaint, even though the piece lived on a winder, it would not keep time correctly. In fact it rarely made it through one dinner before needing to be reset and wound up again. This became a joke for us. Thankfully, the thought is appreciated more so than the gift itself.\r

My opinion is this particular watch was “rode hard and hung up wet”. It was not cared for properly and certainly was not fit for resale in the condition it was in. I felt silly for being so trusting and also that I had been taken advantage of. I recommend spending a little bit more time researching the time piece (where it’s been) and how exactly it was repaired in order to ensure you receive what you are expecting/paying for. I felt like I was sold a used car that was missing wheels and an engine.\r

I was told the watch was in beautiful condition and in great working order. This turned out to be less than true which gave the seller an unfair advantage when we began our negotiating. It cost just under $1,500.00 in maintenance. This included repair of internal components, the cosmetics, and purchase of new strap for the watch just so that it could be worn. The broken watch was sold for over $4500.
