I'm a busy person (at least I'd like to believe I am) and as a previous member of 24 hour fitness, you just don't understand how annoying it is to have to go home and shower and get dressed for work or a date after the gym. or even how disgusted you are at the mere thought of showering in such filthy premises. Seriously. I'm getting chlamydia just thinking about it. I mean, what do you really want to get out of a gym? You want to WANT to go there. You want to be comfortable (It's swank). You want to carry as little as possible (they have all the necessary amenities AND tripled distilled water). You want convenience (parking is validated in a secure structure). You want a personal touch (they remember your name). You want to be able to calculate and monitor your progress (and you can via your membership card that automatically notes how many times you've been there and what classes you take which you can look at online). Equinox gives you all that and more. If you really wants to get real. You can think about it like this. - the gas you save from having to drive home and shower - the soap, razors, cotton balls, lotion, steam room etc they provide - the towels. No washing my gym towels. Saves water. and time. - the water you save from showering at the gym. - the sugar daddy you can scope out. hell, you KNOW they can afford 138 a month. If you are into group classes, I'd say Equinox Westwood is one of the finest in the Westside. I like working out and staying fit. I know I can do it alone but classes are fun. I have all access and like the layout here a lot, especially the cardio and weights area are right next to each other. I have to drop one star not because of the pricing as much but the crowd here is less ""gunhold"" than I have seen at the West Hollywood location or my second gym -- Gold's. But then it is closely located within 5 miles where I live and the staff here I find has zero attitude. They make such a big effort to say both ""Hi"" and ""Goodbye"" to you. I really appreciate that aspect and of course the unlimited supply of fresh towels and parking validation, you do get more than what you paid. I would recommend people join here take classes otherwise why bother paying high price for just tread-milling and weight-lifting??? Instructors are def. the best and again this alone would have been a 5-stars rating. I will rest my case now. more

I joined the westwood equinox when it first opened in Jan. 2006. Pro: CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Con: Getting too crowded and management changes has deteriorated upper management services. Ask Steve for any membership questions/concerns. He really takes care of his clients. The other new girl is kind of crazy....... If you need personal training, you should receive it from Mark Decker or Aaron Delgrolice. They also offer top notch fitness classes taught by industry veterans. I.E. Marc Montemerlo's class. I tend to find the equinox crowd more down to earth and not so fixated in trying to pick up people at the gym. Pros: CLEAN, friendly staff, machines are always avail.
