Best

Before there was the smoking ban, we used to drive down to Tacoma from Seattle to go to this place. The beer is excellent. The food is fine. And the service is terrific. We'll...

Worst

Given its location and atmosphere, you'd think Engine House 9 would be a fun local dive to grab a drink. It has potential, but the service kills it. Yes, the building is a cool...

Tacoma's very own CHEERS 8/23/2005

This is the kind of place where the wait staff knows customers by name and college students fit in right next to sports teams or families. Food is fairly typical bar grub and local beers are so-so, but the atmosphere is fun and festive. Wednesday nights the bar hosts a low-tech "Trivia Night," providing friendly intellectual competition between teams. more

Cute place 8/19/2005

This is an old engine house that is now a bar. It has a nice, laid back atmosphere and good beer. At one time they had a meeting for teachers on Friday afternoons, but an interested person might want to double check that before showing up. It would be a good place to meet up with people. more

Not just a pub... 4/29/2005

We love this place! It is great for a last minute "what do you want to eat?" kind of meal. They have great beers on tap, and a wide menu. It is located in a nice neighborhood, and you can feel that "locals" feeling there -- though not the "go away" kind --- more like the "everybody's family" kind. During the week, they have each night set up for it's own thing -- karaoke, football, quiz night, etc. Our 2-year old daughter loves their kids menu - and the staff is great with kids. Try it out! more
