Enfield Medical Associates

I recently moved to town and Dr. Abbie Courtemanche was highly recommended. I called the office and asked to be set up as a new patient. ""OK, but Dr. Courtemanche is booking out until April next year. Do you still want to be a patient?"" (It's July now, so she was saying it would take 9 months.) I said no thanks. It didn't seem right that it should be so hard, so I called back. I said that I don't need a physical, I just want to be set up as a new patient. She said, ""So you want to see the doctor without paying a copay or billing to insurance?"" I said no. I'm happy to pay a copay. I was transferred to someone who said that she has never heard of any doctor doing a free meet and greet at the office. I said that I just want to be set up as a new patient. She said, ""Why not just come in for a new patient exam?"" I told her that's what I've been trying to do. Apparently, she could see me in 2 weeks. I made the appointment and then the person told me that there's a list of medications that the doctor won't prescribe. She read me the list. I asked why she doesn't prescribe them. ""Well, just because she's a new doctor so she doesn't want to prescribe narcotics."" I asked, ""So it's because she's new? That implies a lack of confidence."" She said, ""You know what? I can't speak to her. If you still want to come in and see her you can ask her for yourself. But you will pay a copay and your insurance will be billed."" I can't believe how poorly I was treated when I was calling to become a new patient! I guess the search for a new primary care doc is still on because I will not be going to this practice. So rude! more

I recently moved to Enfield and needed to see the doctor for a lump that I found in my breast as well as stomach pain. They were able to get me in within a couple days and everything went well. (Usually I have to wait a week or so or I'd have to go to the ER). I had to get my blood drawn and their lab is in the same suite which is very convenient. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that they only sometimes call me to remind me of my appointment, not all the time. Other than that, my experience was fine. more

I recently moved to Enfield and need to see an internist for my thyroid condition. I called Enfield Medical Assoc. based on my insurance and was told I would receive a call back to schedule an appt. They never contacted me. I called to schedule and was told I could not get in for a month. Then after the fact they sent me via mail an appointment when I didn' t even schedule one. I called the office yet again stating I never made an appointment and considering I'm still trying to find a physician asked if I could reschedule. The receptionist was very rude and told me I would have to wait at least 3 months. LOVELY. I would NOT recommend this practice if you do indeed have a medical condition that needs attention. I am beyond disgusted. Cons: Worst practice more
