Great Place for after the Theater 4/12/2010

Went to see Wicked and was hungry after the play. Stopped in O'Lunney's, as first time visitors and were impressed by the fact they were still serving food after 11:00pm!!! Our dinners were terrific. The service was very friendly and the Guinness was a "perfect pour." We would certainly recommend O'Lunney's to anyone in this area. Pros: Service and Selection Cons: A few more Irish tunes!!!! more

Simply fabulous staff and a great atmosphere 1/2/2010

Emmett's has become our anchor whenever we are in NY! Close to all the tourist stuff, but staffed by people who actually care. The pot roast is an absolute joy on a cold winters day. The Guinness is as good as anywhere on the planet. I have NEVER had a bad meal or bad service in this bar. On our last day in NY (17th Dec 09), the owner thanked us for our business and gave us a drink on the house..........not everywhere in NY demonstrates that kind of customer care. So for Tommy and Lorna here in Scotland, it's nothing but the highest recommendation for the people, the drink and the food of Emmett O'Lunney's. I hope it remains our first port of call in NY for many years to come. Can't recommend it highly enough. Cheers guys! Pros: Cold Guinness, hot food at very reasonable prices Cons: None as far as I am concerned! more

great atmosphere 12/12/2009

Exceeded our expectations 11/18/2009

Our party of eight stopped in after a Broadway play on 11/12/09 and were delighted with the experience. Those of us who ordered Irish specialties were very pleased with the quality and quantity of the dishes. Those who chose the salmon (catch of the day recommended by the host) said it was about the best they ever had. Our server was very cheery, helpful and attentive. Given that it's in the tourist-y theater district, we were somewhat apprehensive, but we would definitely go there again! Highly recommended. Pros: Great food, friendly wait staff Cons: None more

Terrified 8/1/2009

Irish Pub...no corn beef in cabbage, but they have a TACO SALAD? I was a little confused by the mix of decorations, it's Time Square what do you expect I guess. The owner was annoying to both us and his staff. Pros: Foods OK Cons: Corn beef and Cabbage? more

Emmett O'Lunney's--A Fine Irish Restaurant & Bar 12/27/2008

I took my son to a Magic Show at the Snapple Theatre on Broadway & 50th Street this evening and decided to go for a walk afterwards and then we decided we wanted to get some dinner. In our travels, we arrived back at 50th Street and Broadway and saw this gorgeous bar and restaurant which we had passed before..."Emmett O'Lunney's"....so we decided to go in and give it a try. My son ordered a hamburger and fries with a Sprite and I ate a Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad with a ginger ale. It was a great dinner. The service was fabulous. We were seated right away when we came in even though it was at the peak of dinner time. I loved the Irish decor, having Irish roots, this bar & restaurant make you feel like you are back in Ireland. The owner, Emmett O'Lunney is a great person as well--he makes you feel right at home. I wish the owner lots of luck with his establishment! If you are ever in New York & you need a warm & friendly restaurant to pick up your spirits---come to Emmett O'Lunney's! Pros: Excellent Food & Service more

Best Pub in NYC 11/17/2008

Emmett O'Lunney's is a awesome Irish pub! Great Irish style pub and the staff is wonderful. Great service, delicious food, and reasonably priced drinks for being right in Times Square!! The owner is great guy and the bartenders are very friendly! We tell everyone that we know to go visit O'Lunney's when the go to the city. Next time your in NYC stop by and you will have just as much fun as we do! We visit everytime we go to the city. The second time we went into the pub the owner and the bartender knew our names and what you wanted to drink, you can't beat that for being out of towners! Thanks Cabs and Emmett for everything! WE ARE.............. more

saved our evening 8/29/2008

My friends and I wandered in to this Irish tavern when we didn't win the Wicked lottery and immediately were glad we did. We were greeted by a nice lady and shown to the bar.The bar lady Kat? was friendly and kept the laughs coming. We had some good burgers and beers and stayed to watch the yankees game.Later we watched Phelps win his 7th gold and we has a blast! Awesome place. We will be back. Pros: great atmosphere more

Great food and atmosphere plus real friendly staff 8/20/2008

I went to this place to help the owner reprogram his hi-tech lighting control system, which was necessary because of the recent renovation. I decided to have lunch there while working on my MacBook. I ordered the calamari for appetizer (huge serving!) and a plain burger with fries and coleslaw on the side. The food tasted really fresh. The staff was very courteous and friendly also. The renovations worked really well to make the place cozy and relaxing. The owner was even kind enough to offer my lunch on the house (as gratitude for my help). I would have gladly paid for the meal as I enjoyed my lunch so well. I'll be making this place a regular stop for myself whenever I'm working in the area. Pros: Great value! Cons: Still ongoing renovations, but should be done quite soon more

Neverending renovation 7/3/2008

I go to this place a lot or used to anyway. It's in a great location close to my office but what is going on with the neverending renovation?? It's just annoying. Get it over with already! Also, the waitstaff used to be consistently good and attentive before but I can't say that from my recent visits there. Pros: Food Cons: Inattentive waitstaff and the neverending renovation!! more

great bar 5/17/2008

This was our first time in NYC. We had a wonderful time. At the end of each day after sightseeing, we would stop in this bar for a couple of drinks. All of the staff was incredibly friendly making us feel like regulars. The manager and owner were fantastic as well. I can't say enough good things about this bar. The food and the drinks are great as well, but it's the atmosphere and the service that made this bar one of our favorite places to sit and relax. more

Excellent personable service 5/12/2008

This was a great resturant, with excellent personable service. The food was good and out quickly. I would recommend this resturant to anyone in the area. We were on a tight timeframe and made it in and out in plenty of time for the show. Pros: service and food more

great after work crowd 3/1/2008

On the invitation of a client we met for happy hour here.It was our first time here and as our office is 3 blocks away it was a very pleasant find. The place is much bigger than expected and there was 2 bars and ample space for our group. The crowd was mostly corporate and the atmosphere was light and fun.The host made sure we had space at the bar and the lady behind the bar was accommodating, witty and full of Irish charm..The only con was the ladies restroom was down stairs and it was difficult to find with the crowd.Looking forward to St Patricks' day there more

My new Mid-town local 9/5/2007

This is a great bar. I went to catch the game and stayed for the rest of the night. The drinks are poured promptly and properly and the staff is attentive and very professional. I also enjoyed the food, especially the Irish pub food, which is my favorite. My group had a wonderfull time and I want to thank Emmett for his attentive and generous service. This place is a keeper. I took my mom there the next night before we went to see Wicked, and she had a great time. It's the perfect pre-theatre stop since the service will make sure you make your curtain. I recommend it highly as your midtown local. Pros: food, drink, atmosphere, music, sports tv, midtown location Cons: bathroom in the basement, I like everything on one floor more

doorman needs social skills 9/3/2007

After a very strong recommendation from a friend and always on the look out for new places in the area. I spent an afternoon here and had a wonderful time.Very friendly welcome, nice staff and the food was prompt and tasty.I left feeling very happy. Later that evening I stopped by again to check if my co workers were present and was very rudely attacked by the doorman, as I tried to use the bathroom. He was rude offensive and clearly is lacking in social skills.Once my co workers who belong to a large company in the area spotted me his attitude changed completely.Never in my life have I been treated with such hostility. Its such a shame as I had such an enjoyable time earlier. I won't be back. more

Great Food, Prices, and Staff! 8/17/2007

A friend had recommended this place before leaving for New York, and so after a long day of sightseeing it caught my eye on the way back to the hotel. I ordered the nachos, and they were some of the best I've ever had! Their prices were very reasonable, our wait person was friendly, and we especially appreciated the relaxed atmosphere right in the middle of the city. But the best part was the service I received AFTER I left. As mentioned, after a long day of sightseeing, I was very tired and left my package of gifts and souvenirs in the restaurant. I didn't discover this until a few days later as I was packing to leave at about 1:00 a.m. I called the next day and spoke with Emmett who had the package. He was so nice, and even though I'm sure it was somewhat of a hassle to deal with, he was as gracious as could be and packaged it all up for shipping back to me! I would have recommended Harmony View Bar and Grill anyway, but now I will most definitely sing their praises to anyone heading to Manhattan! I know I will be back! Thank you Emmett for the great food and outstanding service! more

Great food understated touristy atmoshpere 7/9/2007

We went out with high expectations because of reading some great reviews and we were not disappointed. When we arrived we thought we had definitely picked the wrong place because there were very few people inside and they were trolling for customers outside. The atmosphere was very nice, but we were seated at a front window to make it look more popular for passing tourists. The drinks were okay, but the food blew us away. I don't think of Irish food as a culinary breeding ground, but the chicken potpie here was amazing, covered in philo dough instead of the traditional, boring pasty dough. The Shepards Pie was also quite nice. The staff was very friendly and when we asked for a modfiication on our drink they were happy to comply. Definitely recommended! Pros: Food Cons: Touristy more

Just plain fun 4/13/2007

Where else in the city of New York can an "out of towner" walk into a bar for only the second time in thier life and have the bartender call you by name and know what you are drinking. Great food, great service, very friendly and the best prices I found in the area. There are a lot of places in the Times Square area with multi million dollar decors but this place has a million dollar staff. Thanks Cab and the rest of the crew. I had a blast. Harmony View: an oasis of frendliness in Manhatten. T. Pros: Upbeat. Very reasonably priced. Convenient. more

Good food, friendly service, great prices 3/31/2007

My friend and I wanted to meet up somewhere in the city that we could have good food and catch up. She chose this place because of the reviews it had gotten on citysearch, and I have to say it was an excellent choice. We went there on Saturday for brunch, not packed at all. The service was great. The hostess was polite and friendly. The wait staff were attentive. The manager came by a checked with us periodically that my friend and I were doing okay. Although the menu was not extensive, the food was really good, proving the being great at a few things is way better than being mediocre at many. Finally, the price of the items were surprisingly reasonable for that section of town. We spent $30 for the meal, yes that was cost of the entire meal ( we didn't order liquor). Will definite go back there. Pros: food, service, price Cons: none more

Great customer service & extremely cozy atmosphere 3/31/2007

First of all, the place was remarkably easy to find, near some train stations which was nice- easily accessible. As soon as I approached the place, I was greeted by a remarkably friendly hostess outside and then by another person who then took me and my friend to a nice table in the back. Because we wanted to mainly talk and catch up on old times, the restaurant was good for that, providing us with a good and comfortable place in the back and a suctioned noise level at that. We were then greeted by a friendly and helpful waiter who checked up on us numerous times, and then later on by what looked like the manager. In a part of Manhattan surrounded by tourists and tourist hot spots and expensive hotels, we were both surprised that the place wasn't more packed. Lucky for us, it was nice to get some good, prompt, friendly service, a comfortable, quiet corner to call our own for a few hours, and not to mention, some decent elbow room in a classy-looking, elegant place. In addition, the prices are not that bad either, even though the menus don't offer too much food, but the sandwiches that we had there were pretty tasty. If you want some leg room, great food at reasonable prices, a great atmosphere that includes a bar, friendly staff, small crowds and a great easily assessible location, then you should try the Harmony Bar & Grill. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Pros: Ambience, friendly service and staff, small crowd, great atmosphere Cons: None more
