Your one stop shop for emergency preparedness! 6/17/2006

When I lived in Utah, I loved visiting this store even though emergency preparedness wasn't high up on my list of things to do at the time because they had so many different things to look at. My husband liked to go there because they have a lot of things that can be used for camping gear, as well. They have too many things to even list and basically they carry everything you would need to be super prepared in an emergency situation. They offer cooking items, kitchen supplies (including things like wheat grinders and dehydrators), food storage containers, radios and flashlights (including ones that are charged by solar power and ones that you can hand crank), camping gear, emergency items (such as first aid kits), water storage items, and everything that you can think of for food storage items. What I love about the store is that you can take your time just browsing and they have quite a few interactive displays where you can try out things like the wheat grinder and you can also sample different food storage items. I have since invested in some of the Providing Pantry food storage items and everything I've tried has been good. Some of my favorites are the bread/roll mixes and pancake mixes. These are things that I would use even outside of my food storage and they are very affordable! They also offer classes to help you learn to prepare for emergencies. It's ironic that now that I no longer live in Utah, emergency preparedness has become such a priority to me. Since I no longer have access to their actual stores, their website has become a great resource for me. You can buy pretty much anything that they have in their store online also. You just don't have the option of trying things out first. Non-food products come with a one year warranty and there is a 30 day money back guarantee. In addition to ofering a wide variety of emergency preparedness, you will also find that this site provides you with a wealth of information. There are emergency preparedness insight articles as well as an emergency education quiz. It even provides you with a checklist of items for your 72 hour kits. There are also recipes that will help you to utilize and rotate your food storage items. They also have some great resource books. Their shipping is relatively inexpensive ($6 for up to $60 of merchandise, $9 for up to $120 and $12 for anything above $120). My mom and I will sometimes place an order together to save even more on shipping costs! Everything I have ordered has arrived quickly and has been packaged carefully. Some of the things that I have ordered and tried that I have been pleased with are: banana slices, powdered milk (I'm not thrilled with this idea ordinarily, but this stuff is actually decent), the bread and roll mixes, and the muffin mixes. My parents have tried a lot more things (including some of the freeze-dried items) and have been really pleased with everything they have tried. Their website can be accessed at: www.beprepared.com This is definitely a "one stop shop" for all of your emergency preparedness needs! more

Lots of cool stuff for being essentials... 12/9/2005

My husband and I went here just to look around while we were trying to kill time. I was impressed with how much they had to offer. We were curious about some of the food options they had for 72-hour kits and appreciated the advice they shared about what might suit our needs. I had a hard time pulling my husband away, but luckily we made it our of there without spending too terribly much! more

great place for emergency supplies 11/15/2005

This store has a ton of emergency supplies for 72 hour kits, food storage, water storage, etc. They sell #10 cans of food for food storage as well. After hurricane katrina their shelves were nearly empty though. I guess we weren't the only thinking about emergency rpeparedness. Cheapest source for the LED, no battery flashights. more

The place to get prepared! 9/27/2005

Emergency Essentials is the place to go if you want to be prepared for any disasters you may be faced with! They have a wide variety of food storage items including freeze dry pouches and dried food in cans. You can purchase a month's supply, an entire year's supply, or just purchase what you need little by little. There are food storage containers and water storage. They have a number of kitchen items (such as a hand grain mill) as well as water filtration systems. They usually have items out so that you can actually see them and try them out. They also usually have different types of food items available for sampling. They also have 72 hour kits and first aid kits. They offer mini emergency preparedness classes and also have a number of books available for purchase to help you get prepared. more
