Bottom line up front: You may get lost in the cracks by the staff, especially if they have to break from their normal processes for your care.
The doctor I met with was friendly and knowledgeable. He referred me for an MRI (this was in March). The staff submitted this referral to my health insurance carrier for approval and it was denied. No problem so far.
The problem started when I was told the staff would appeal the denial and ask the doctor to revise/supplement his notes so the procedure would be approved. This conversation happened at the end of March. Fast-forward four weeks later and I called the office. Nothing had been done on my appeal. I had to remind the staff what they told me, so they began working on it. They finally submitted the appeal to my insurance in the middle of May. My health insurance requested additional medical information at the end of May. It is now the middle of June, and to-date that additional information has not been sent to my health carrier by the staff.
I am now three months since my MRI referral and I still have now idea when/if it will take place. I'm glad that I am (probably) not suffering from a serious condition.
Again, while the doctor was fine, be mindful of the staff, especially if something happens outside their normal process. They may take their time getting to it, and/or they may have to be reminded to assist you.
