Superb Service and a great Doctor 11/10/2014

This was my first visit and I was wowed by this office. I have never had such a great exam and the staff was not only knowledgeable but fun too. The selection of frames was good and not too pricey. Dr. Elliott gave me the most in depth exam I think I have ever had and was wonderful to chat with too. No problems with my insurance benefits here either. Wonderful all around. more

Your Family's Eye Doctor

Owner Message
  • Dr. Robert Elliott, OD, owner of the Elliott Vison Center, is celebrating 20 years of serving Racine county and the surrounding areas this year. He is very proud of this accomplishment and credits this achievement to the loyal patients that have enthusiastically shared their experiences with friends and family. “There are many wonderful optometrists to choose from in this area. I am just glad that the people of this community gave us a chance to show them our style of optometry. I am grateful to have been able to build up such a loyal patient base.” Dr. Elliott says he loves Racine because the people here appreciate a doctor who they can relate to and is easy to talk with. A recent patient remarked, “Doc has tattoos, rides a motorcycle and listens to classic rock music in his office all day.” His style of care is also noted as being a bit unconventional. “He's not your cookie cutter eye doctor”, another patient remarks. “He doesn't use the “air puff” test and Doc personally puts in and removes my contact lenses. No other doctor has ever done that.” Raised in Morris, Illinois, Dr. Elliott graduated from Augustana College in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. Prior to beginning his Optometric education, Dr. Elliott served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic. He states, “Joining the Army and serving my country was one of the best decisions that I've ever made.” “It was a time for personal growth and I'm still reaping the benefits of my time spent in the military”. Once at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, he earned his Bachelor of Science in 1990 and his Doctorate in Optometry in 1992. Upon graduating, Dr. Elliott started his career in Colorado. “Colorado was a great opportunity to learn how to deliver full-scope Optometry in a very unrestricted environment. I, also, took advantage of those mountains to hone my snowboarding skills.” He then moved back to the Illinois and started practicing at the Pearle Vision near the Regency Mall in 1996. In the summer of 2002, he decided to move his family to Union Grove. “It was then that I decided that I would fulfill my childhood dream of owning my own private practice”, he stated. A year later, Dr. Elliott opened the Elliott Vision Center on Washington Avenue. Dr. Elliott specializes in fitting a variety of contact lenses for all age groups. “One of my favorite moments in patient care happens when I've successfully fit someone into contact lenses when they've been told elsewhere that contacts were not an option for them. Or when I can return someone to contact lens wear when they thought their wearing days were over.” “I've been able to wear contacts for ten more years than I thought would be possible because of Dr. Elliott”, says patient, Joanie. Dr. Elliott spends his time away from his practice with family and friends. On most summer days you can find him riding his Indian Motorcycle with loved ones. “Everybody on both sides of my family rides motorcycles. It's not hard to find a riding partner on my days off.” Dr. Elliott also likes to watch NFL football games. “It won't take you long to figure out my favorite team once you see my private office at the practice.” The Elliott Vision Center has recently been relocated to a different facility here in Racine. Having been in the Village Center next to Panera Bread and Kohl's for the past 12 years, Dr. Elliott felt that his growing practice needed more space and a change of scenery. The new location is in the building shared with Master Chay's Tae Kwon Do Studio at 2722 Old Mill Dr. He's directly North of the Timer's Beverage Center, which is
