I just moved here and was looking for a sports bar to watch the Giants game because they are in a race for the pennant right now. A friend and I decided to try EGSB.
The food was good and reasonably priced. The bartenders were great!
We had parked ourselves in front of a TV at the bar to watch the game, and during the 8th inning, one of the employees tried to change our station even though it was obvious we were watching the game. He finally noticed and put it right back. There weren't many people there, and there are many TVs available to change. Why he chose ours? I have no idea.
That would not have been that big of a deal, except then the same employee went up to the stage and started playing with the sound system, playing music over the main speakers so we could not longer hear the game. After a few minutes, this became annoying because the only reason we went there was for the game.
He then shut it off, but continued to play with the sound system. So throughout the rest of the game mostly what we heard were short bursts of music followed by the screeching feedback from the sound system. It was a bit like trying to watch the game with my nine-year-old sitting next to me practicing her saxophone.
When I commented that the game would be over in about ten minutes, he mumbled something and walked away.
Feeling a little superfluous, we left immediately after the game was over and decided between ourselves the name of the bar should be changed to Elk Grove Dance Bar and Grill...with some TVs. Obviously, sports is not their priority. I'll pass next time.
By the way, we stopped for a drink on the way home at another bar down the street where, incredibly, the drinks were half the price. Score!
