BEST VET EVER 6/12/2011

I have been a client since grand opening. We had a weimeraner named Hurricane, we rescued from Hurricane Katrina. She was malnurished, mangled and had medical issues. The entire staff worked with our new baby until she was in terrific shape.\r Everone there knew her name and would give her attention, even if they were in a hurry. When we found out, years later, she was dying of cancer, we were devistated. At the end of her life, Dr. Shelley took her to HIS HOUSE and stayed up with her all night, until her last breath. We love the entire Elk Creek Vet. family! \r If you want personal attention like this for your loved ones go to Elk Creek Vet and tell 'em Hurricane's story sent ya! more

helpful to non-client 6/4/2011

I was not a client, but they took time out of their day to discuss with me a very sick animal of mine. Very appreciative of their time and information. more

wonderful staff 8/16/2010

I had used the same vet for over 10 years but I knew something was not right with my chow. Elk creek was recommended by a Co worker. We saw Allison and the diagnosis was what I feared terminal cancer and nothing would save bear now. Our vet should have found this I had her in there constantly. We had to let our baby go on 6 14 2010. The staff was great and I felt I could trust them. My other baby jaden will be having surgery in the morning for a bladder stone another diagnosis our Vet missed. I hope jaden is OK I love my babies more than life more

Like Family 8/5/2010

Dr. Shelley has been treating my dog, Hank, for epileptic seizures for about 3 months now. He is a wonderful vet! He answers all of my questions before I even get a chance to ask them and he is always genuinely concerned for Hank.\r \r I have taken my dogs to many other clinics over the years, but this is by far, the best one. I have had at least 5 people reccommend this place to me over the years and I am glad that I finally went. They are always available, always friendly, and Dr. Shelley is just great at understanding your situation and doing what is best for your pet. \r \r My dog is doing much better thanks to them and I hope that they will continue to help me keep him healthy for years to come. more

PJ 7/7/2010

I can not begin to tell you how wonderful Dr. Shelley and his staff are. \r I had taken my cat PJ to a vet in Louisville and they almost killed him with sedative because they were afraid of him. \r Dr. Shelleys staff were not afraid. They were patient and calm. They even sat and talked with him until he felt safe and they then could work with him. \r I live in Lexington now and I would not dream of taking PJ anywhere else. Its worth any drive. They are amazing! more

The BEST there is! 6/19/2010

Dr. Shelley and his staff have both thumbs up from me. I am a Giant dog breeder, and my pets are like my kids, I will take them only to the best. I had been using another service in the Louisville area, but was never very happy. Dr. Shelley and everyone there is very caring and concerned for both the pet and the owners. It's not unusual to have someone on staff shed a tear when something bad has happened. I love each person there, they are the best. Dr. Shelley is worth the drive if you are within 100 miles! more

superb 5/11/2010

Being highly recommended and referred to Dr. Shelly by another very satisfied pet owner was a tremendous blessing for me and my Boston Terrior, Gladys, who I had the blessing of being with for almost 11 years. After having her to a different vet for quite some time for treatment of her epilepsy, the seizures were not being effectively treated. Dr. Shelly immediately put her on a course of treatment that was tremendously effective. Her seizures eventually became nonexistent. Unfortunately, Gladys developed diabetes and then aggressive oral cancer. Dr. Shelly did everything he could for her as long as he could. Dr. Shelly was always precisely right on target with his diagnoses, no matter what the ailment or disease was. The test results always confirmed that. One thing that is special about Dr. Shelly and his staff is that they genuinely love and care for their patients. This is very evident because you can see and feel the love and care that they have for them. I know they loved Gladys. more

Best Vet Ever! 2/5/2010

I agree that Dr. Shelly and Dr. Bennett have given my dogs better care than any other vet I have visited. Even if you live outside of Taylorsville, Ky, you should definitely take you pets there....it is well worth the trip. The first time my dog had a seizure, I was in shambles. The staff has been just as good with me as they have been with my dogs! more

Wonderful people and vets 3/4/2009

I have been to this vet several times with my dog, Maggie. I can always count on them to do what is best for her. She broke her jaw at one point and I took her to the 24 hour vet in Louisville who did not catch this. A month later, she was still acting strange and in pain. Elk creek caught it and fixed it. Great job Elk Creek Vet Clinic! more

SIMPLY THE BEST VETS & STAFF!! 10/19/2008

They saved our 9 year old bull terrier, Stoli, when she had a corn cob obstruction this summer. She actually "died" during surgery but they were able to "bring her back". We're SO grateful. Their level of care is second to none & their prices - UNBEATABLE! \r \r We also kennel Stoli there when we travel & they do a wonderful job with our quirky dog! Special thanks to Michelle - Stoli's favorite! more

Great! 9/15/2008

My cane corso tore his acl and I couldnt get a surgery with a specialist for 3 weeks!!! My concern was that he would blow his other acl, which he did and couldnt even walk! I called the emergency number for that hospital and the didnt call back for almost 2 hours! The staff at Elk Creek called me back immediately and met us at the hospital on that same sunday even though they were not open and did the surgery on that monday! Not to mention it was 1/3 of the price!!! We can not thank the staff at Elk Creek enough! You saved our dog and our pocketbook! more

Compassionate clinic 6/29/2008

The Elk Creek Animal Hospital has my vote. My 9 year old Australian shepherd has gotten great care by a very knowledgeable and compassionate staff. Dr. Shelly has got to be one of the best in the region. He is truly interested in your pets health and care. He doesn't preform needless procedures. He has actually told me, "no, I don't see a reason to do that particular test at this time". I have recently moved from Kentucky to Florida and drive all the way back for my pet care. I have a vet locally that is good, but the Elk Creek staff has my loyalty. The trip is worth the quality of care and the trust that Dr. Shelly's has earned. I would highly recommend him for all your pet's needs. Thank you Dr. Shelly. more
