There were a lot of positives, and it wasn't like an entirely negative experience. There were certain aspects of the experience that were less than ideal. Specifically, one negative was that we had a critical piece of equipment for video distribution that did not work for three years. We had to pay to have it replaced, and it finally works properly.
Secondly, certain items were supposed to be done in a more timely manner, so I had to keep following up with Electronic Home. On many occasions, they said they forgot or remembered that they had to get on top of something. I think those two are the primary things.
The good news is that they have always been very accommodating with trying to fix things and very willing to come out to make changes and things like that. They have an incredible industry knowledge of complex systems.
RESPONSE FROM Electronic Home:
EH solicited this review even though we knew it would not bring us 5 stars and wanted to know where we stood on a job that had several challenges, including several design decisions chosen against our recommendations as the client felt our concerns were not valid for his situation.
The problems with the HDMI Video Distribution System were that of compatibility with the customer's existing equipment not purchased from EH and that have known HDMI issues. We offered a solution much earlier, but the client chose to not go that route and accepted the 90 functionality the installed system had. After 3 years, the manufacturer had come out with a better system and the client was upgraded at below dealer cost by the mfg. with no mark-up by EH. This was an out-of-warranty "good will" gesture by both.
Overall, I can't argue with the review as this was not our typical job and is one of our "worst cases".
