I first experienced El Toreo in Valdosta, GA during a military visit. I was turned on immediately. The chicken fajitas were fabulous, and tha margaritas were to die for. My husband and I had business in Ocala today, and I knew from driving up and down the interstate that there was an El Toreo at highway 200, the exit you get off for Paddock Mall. When we got there, the server brought glasses of water, chips and salsa. We both ate the salsa (pretty good) and decided on the fajitas. He had beef, I had chicken.
We were talking for a little bit, and I could hear the sizzling of the fajitas behind me. When he put the plate down, I was in heaven again. The smell was fantastic, and it was heaping with chicken, peppers, and onions. In tinfoil, there were hot tortillas, and on a side plate, rice, refried beans, pice de gallo, lettuce, and guacamole. The waiters speak spanish if you do, so it was nice. I asked for some more pico de gallo (tomatoes, cilantro, jalapenos, and onions) and I could only eat 2 fajitas. and had to bring the rest home. I got used to eating Mexican food for the 5 years we lived in Texas in the Military, and even though I can make good fajitas, these are GREAT! There are 2 in Valdosta, Ga and 2 in Ocala. They are worth the stop. Better than chili's for the price and taste, more authentic.
