When I was a teenager growing up "El tap" was the most tasty mexican food I have ever had. It was a few generations of family working in the kitchen and produced great food. That was 17 years ago. My wife loves mexican food as it is part of her heritage and as such she suggested we eat there based on my reccomendations. I was horrified at the taste of the food now. There was absolutley no distinguishing flavor in ANY of the food. I hate to say this but Taco Bell has better tasting food than El Tap. I feel bad for all the people who have eaten there for years as it has progressivley gotten worse because they dont even recognize it. It's like when you see someone everyday for 20 years..it seems as if they are the same person they were back then, but if you don't see that person for twenty years the changes are obvious. I hate to admit it but even if gas hit's $6.00 per gallon it would still be better to drive to the city for tastefull food. It's disgusting but the few hundred burps I had later that evening had more flavor than the food I wasted over $30.00 on. A friend of mine reccommended that I NEVER eat at the location in spring hill because it is "awful" supposedly due to the owner being such a cheapskate that he will sacrifice food quality for profits. I think it's pretty obvious that mom and dad are out of the picture now and profits rule the roost. Please do not invite out of town guests to come sample some of our great towns "authentic" mexican food, they may never want to return.
Pros: if you can stomach it, it will fill your belly
Cons: your belly, wallet, and family will hate you
