I am a HUGE fan of good authentic mexican food. This place was HORRIBLE! Not only was the food of poor quality, the portions were off and the customer service was extremely bad....

I am a HUGE fan of good authentic mexican food. This place was HORRIBLE! Not only was the food of poor quality, the portions were off and the customer service was extremely bad. I ordered a taco bowl with only cilantro, steak, onions (guac, salsa & sour cream on the side) on the side. The bowl was FULL of shredded cheese and large pieces of cilantro. (not finely chopped), there was maybe 6 pieces of small cubed meat, the salsa was like cold tomatoe soup and the guac appeared to be old (not fresh and green). Pros: null Cons: null more

El Sombrero is absolutely delicious. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Grand Rapids. My favorite menu item is the wet burrito. It's so good! The portions are generous and prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend El Sombrero to anyone looking for a good meal. Pros: it's casual and has a relaxing atmosphere, plus they have a drive through if you'd like to bring it home. Cons: can't think of one. more

Great Mexican Food! 6/8/2008

We took the whole family to El Sombrero's Restaurant and we all really liked it. The atmosphere was fun and the decor was tastefully done. The food was very good. We all ordered different things from the menu and shared, so that we could try a variety and we were all pleased. more

Amazing Wet Burritos! 3/2/2005

I love the wet burritos at El Sombrero! They are smothered in an amazing red sauce and the lettuce is crisp on the insides! Mmmm! I have recently moved out of state and haven't been able to find another burrito that comes close to comparing to one from El Sombrero. I can't wait to come back to visit Grand Rapids and have me the perfect wet burrito! :) Pros: Great Food, Decent Prices, staff is prompt Cons: staff not too chiper, :) more
