NOT a top rate Taqueria 8/5/2002

Having lived in San Francisco for five years before returning to Boston, I was really looking forward to El Pelon. In SF, you can walk down just about any street or just about every neighborhood and find a taqueria. I'm sorry to say that El Pelon was VERY disappointing. I'm used to free chips with my Burrito, not here. I'm used to a big, full Burrito, not here. I'm used to a Burrito with a lot of flavor, a choice for rice, a choice of beans, a choice of whether I would like crema (sour cream) or not, etc. You don't get that here. If you're looking for a REAL taqueria, try to find someplace else, this is not it. Pros: Close to Fenway, Outdoor summer eats Cons: Nothing special, Bland burritos more

El Pelon is my favorite little taqueria in boston! i moved to the west coast for a winter and was saddened to discover that even in california, though i found some familiar flavors and taco favorites, i failed to find a place that quite matched the quality, care, freshness and service at El Pelon. go figure. more

If you are looking for authentic fresh mexican fare, look no further than El Pelon. My standard dish, Carne Asada Quesadila with Jalapenos, and a RealCity Soda Root beer. I recently tried this tiny Fenway taqueria and found the food fresh, tasty and generously portioned. The service was friendly and the decor is unique. Overall a fun place with great food for very little money. I'll be back. more

I ate at El Pelon for the first time the other day and it was great, I have been to places that are faster, but they are more like a burrito factory than anything else- El Pelon had a much bigger menu and even had a little board with specials- The owner realized that I was from Mexico and provided our table with some specialty foods that I havent even seen anywhere else in Boston- plus they were playing really good music- I cant wait to go back Pros: Outside Seating, Inexpensive, Fish Tacos more
