I went to this place last night w/ a restaurant dot com gift certificate for $25 credit on a $35 bill. I was a bit concerned how to spend $35 on Mexican food w/ 4 people, 2 of which were kids.
Well - it wasn't hard. The food is overpriced for Mexican food, which is obviously a bad thing.
The quality of food ranged from ho-hum (my buritto) to mushy and icky (wife's enchilada) to overly greasy (son's taco that when held sideways let a stream of grease poor on the table). I wouldn't say the food was terrible, but it was definitely on the lower end of what you would expect.
To me that was all ok b/c I had a certificate and it really wasn't going to cost me much. We had already decided we weren't coming back, which was reinforced when the waitress informed us they don't take restaurant dot com certificates anymore. I spoke to the owner about it and she confirmed it, and told me they informed restaurant dot com they were stopping, but they won't take the certificates off the site. She also pointed out that there was a sign on the front door informing customers. Ha - on the way out I noticed a small 8 1/2 x 11 black and white disclaimer next to 3 or 4 huge advertisements. Anyway, I call restaurant dot com and they confirmed what I suspected that El Fuego is violating the terms of their contractual cancellation agreement so the owner basically lied to my face about the situation. If not for the lack of character, they are 2 or 3 stars. Liars with marginal food and bad prices get 1 star.
Next call is the credit card company, where this will be disputed. Save yourself the grief and go to any of the excellent Mexican restaurants in the area.
