Deadly Surgery! 12/3/2009

A few months ago, I took in 2 of my female cats to get spayed at El Cerrito Pet Hospital by Dr. Naqvi. Little did I think that it would almost cost them their life! I should have known something was wrong when I first saw the surgery site on the cats.. it looked awefull, very messy sight. Withing days on a Sunday afternoon, the sutures fell apart and her stomach began to drain fluids. I thought she was going to die! I called ECPH and they were closed so I had to rush my cat to the Berkeley emergency hospital. I ended up paying over $900 dollars to have her treated and to repair the damag done. According to all the Vets we consulted in this issue, my cat had developed an infection most likely during surgery. The next day we found out the same happened to my second cat. So not just 1, but 2 cats suffered from this hospitals negligence. After speaking to the doctor about the issue, he showed no sympathy at all and instead got defensive with me and told me it has nothing to do with him, th more

Watch out, cats! 9/21/2008

We entered the small waiting room with two cats (in separate carriers) and were greeted by a large dog barking like mad. The dog's owner could not calm him and there was no place for either party to go. So we turned around and left.\r \r Most pets find it traumatic to go to the vet. Mixing cats and dogs makes it much worse (at least for cats). If you've got a cat, call before going here. With any luck, they will fix this problem. more

small and cheap 5/16/2008

I thought these boarding facilities were good. I boarded my dog over Christmas and was able to get a spot for her within 3 weeks of the holidays. I was impressed by the runs available. They are very large (like small rooms) and lifted off the ground. Water, food, and bedding was provided. They also took my personal food for her and fed her that instead of their own. I was impressed with the visual aspects of a small, old looking clinic. The staff was not professional looking either, but seemed nice. more

Very Nice 6/9/2005

I am a petsitter/dogwalker and I have had to take my client's pets there and the gentleman that helped me was wonderful. He was very helpful and he was great in his diagnosing. He didn't try to over charge knowing that the pet was not mine. He really did have to puppy's best interest at heart. PROS: very caring CONS: didn't find any more

Dr. McClun 5/21/2005

I've been taking Kylie (the dog) there now for 2.5 years. He's a very caring veterinarian, whos diagnoses have been right on the mark. They do quite a bit of work with rescue organizations (eg., Smiley Dog) which is how I ended up going to him rather than the many doctors who are closer. I find him to he affordable, and usually I can get in to see him without a week-in-advance appointment. Located across from McDonalds on the east side of San Pablo. (Portrero Exit from 80-E, near the Richmond border). PROS: Caring, honest, affordable CONS: more
