Ed Gillis (with Keller Williams Realty in Bothell) was very proactive when we were getting ready to sell our rental property in Everett. He would show up almost every other day and gave advice on upgrading and repairing. We were very impressed with him and signed the contract for 5 months. He convinced us to pay him up front so that when we sell the house, he would only charge us 2.5% commission instead of the standard 3%. He asked for $3,000 up front but we agreed to pay him $2,000 (non-refundable). THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE!!! Once he got our money, he never called us and when we called him, he would basically repeat the same line he used before. Four months later with no offer and no follow-up phone calls from Ed, we finally called Ed and told him over the phone that we weren?t happy with him and would like to break our contract. He never thought that we would walk away from the $2,000 we invested in him. He seemed very surprised and then told us that he had two offers to show us and would like to talk to us in person. He showed up at our house the next day and told us that he didn?t have any offers and that we must have misunderstood him. He then told us that he was confident he would sell our home within a month and wanted us to give him a chance. Since our contract expires in 6 weeks, we decided to give him a chance. That was the last time we saw or heard from Ed. A week before our contract expired, we called him to officially let him know that we weren?t planning on signing with him again. He never returned our call. We never got our money back either.
