The Natural History Museum is a relatively inexpensive place to go on a wintry afternoon (or any other time of the year). I recommend it for both children and adults. Inside, visitors can see a variety of objects, from Balto (not really an object) to gems and minerals, to Native American artifacts, to dinosaur bones. The museum has a certain nostalgic smell to it that brings back memories of grade school. They offer some interesting programs during the summers on Mondays. Parking costs money, and the museum does charge admission, but it is well worth it. Cleveland State students recieve free admission with their Viking Cards. The outdoor animal exibits are must sees! more

Centrally located with parking and buses that arrive at the front door, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History is a museum in the traditional sense. It has large exhibits with realistic back drop paintings and scenes. Most people remember the dinos from their youth, but there are many other animals. While some of the reviews online here recommend the museum for children, I think adults will have an equally good time. Adults and kids can benefit from joining a group tour that is offered several times during the day. Many of the docents are very good and add a lot of interesting material to the tours. The gift store is a great place to find presents for kids and unusual and funky gifts for adults. Browse through books and toys---many of which cannot be found in any other bookstore. more

You will enjoy your whole visit to the museum and their new Planetarium. Right now they are showing Pluto & the Comets and Fly Me to the Moon and Beyond. Inside you'll find A Moon rock from the Apollo 12 mission! Mastodons, mammoths, a Nanotyrannus, and an outdoor Stegosaurus! Also a priceless collection of rare gems including diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and much more! I guarantee you will have a fascinating experience at our wonderful Museum Of Natural History. more

It's hard to tell exactly what the Natural History museum really documents. It's not quite history, and it's not quite science, because there's plenty of speculation and fanciful arrangements of dinosaur bones. But whatever it is, it's often fascinating. It might just be me, but this kind of place strikes me as really neat. They have all sorts of artifacts and documents and summaries of things that happened millions and thousands and hundreds of years ago. There are burial mounds and dinosaurs, beautiful gems and sled dogs. It's a lovely place, and you'll spend a few hours wandering around. It's also a little expensive, especially when its free cousin the Museum of Art is literally right around the corner. But when I went it, it was worth it for the visting exhibit on dinosaurs and the beautiful photographs of hummingbirds in flight upstairs. There is a Foucault's pendulum, always a treat when you want to break out the pseudophilosophy you picked up from your favorite book of the same name. And there is a gift shop, not really worth mentioning. The rest is history. (It's neat to see when it was last updated - some displays clearly have typewritten pages behind a pane of glass explaining what they are, and others reference discoveries as recent as 2004. Look at the history in your own history museum!) more

I went here and it was very good. I saw dinosaur bones, and other animals from prehistoric times. they had activities the kids, such as making reindeer. They also had a santa reading a christmas story at that time. That was a free day. They have free days a few times a year. It was very interesting. more

This museum is wonderful for children. One of the main attractions all kids love are the dinosaurs. Perfectly-constructed bones that form the huge frame of dinosaurs, and give you an idea of just how large they were. They also have rare, preserved animals, such as a gigantic whale. There's a planetarium to learn about the solar system and see the constellations when the Cleveland lights prevent you from seeing the real ones. The gift shop has some unique items, too, such as rare rocks and gems. more
