Eclectix is a store and gallery but it's main focus is the gallery. The gallery is in the back room and there is an art show about every month or every other month. Most of the shows include various artists from the Bay Area and other times it is just a solo show with only one artist. It is great to see different kinds of art from different artists with different styles and taste. The shows are never dull and since there is great variety there is bound to be a piece by any of the artists the a person can enjoy. It is indeed very eclectic. The store itself sells many different things as well. There everything from vintage clothes to locally made jewelry to books to fine art supplies. They also carry local cards that has a few places ranging from Hotsy Totsy to the El Cerrito Theater to the Albany Bowl. I love their local cards and can't find them anywhere else. I love sending them to friends that moved away to the Bay Area to remind them of what they have left behind. There are many things thy sell here that I can't find anywhere else. Not only do they carry some hard to find things but they sell humorous novelty items such as bacon bandaids and looking good for Jesus kits. It's a great place to shop for gifts for friends, especially if they have funky taste or a well developed sense of humor.
Their Spring/Summer hours have been set as follows:
Mondays: Closed
Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: 12-7pm
Fridays & Saturdays: 10-7pm
Sundays 10-4pm
And every 2nd Friday of the month they are going to stay open until 9pm instead of closing at 7pm.
I heard they are going to try and start having poetry readings those Fridays & I can't wait to attend them.
Pros: Great variety & great art!
Cons: None that I can think of.
