Ive been fostering a cat for the local rescue. Today was a day she was to get microchipped, a procedure that should have only taken 10 minutes at the most. She had already been fully vetted and was perfectly healthy.
Having never stepped foot outside, since her last vet Visit 2 months ago. I offered to stay so I could bring the animal home, and they said that because she was a rescue cat, she would have to wait.
I informed the Rescue that She was terrified of cages, As well as the woman who took the cat from me. They left her in the cage, from 830AM till 6Pm. And rather than let me help them calm the frightened animal down, they chose to try and microchip her as fast as they could because it was 30 minutes past their closing time. Insisting that they give the animal a full exam, which wasnt needed considering I'd already PAID a vet to give her a check up, Thus aggitating the poor cat even more, causing her to lash out in terror and scratch the Vet.
They stopped trying to microchip her and handed her back to me telling me I had a vischious animal and that she couldnt be placed with the Rescue. As soon as the cat was in the car and out of the carrier she was calm and handleable. Now they've sentenced this cat to death by their hasty and irresponsible behavior.
They have caused me to be stuck with a feline that Ive spent over 100$ on to fully spay and get shots, because the Rescue PROMISED they would take her.
Now they've compounded her terror of cages and crates and I'll never be able to place her in a home because of her traumatic experience. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH East Ridge Veterinary Clinic for your Callous and hasty treatment of an animal that deserved just as much tender care as your paying customers. If I'd known this was how you would have treated her, i would have Stayed in the office and PAID for the damned Microchip if it meant you treated her kindly and with the same decency as your paying customers. I do not recommend this Vet to ANYONE. Period.
