Best

Best public course in Portland for the $$. Wonderful greens. Pros: greens, design, service

Worst

I think Eastmoreland is a great golf course, but the pace of play has dramaticly slowed in the last few years. It takes at least 6 hours to play 18 unless you are there mid-morni...

A must play for Oregon Golfers... 5/14/2008

Eastmoreland is one of the great Portland area courses, if you haven't played there yet, you need to. For how cheap it is, it's always in good shape, and it's tricky enough to be a challenge for players of any handicap. Is this course on the level of a Pumpkin-Ridge or Langdon Farms... no, of course not... but it is non-the-less a historic Portland track that you should definetely play. And any golf enthusiasts interested in witnessing a massecre can come out this Sunday (May 18th) to watch me pummel my friend and long time golf-nemesis Marc ""Porkchop"" P. there in a high-stakes, high level match! Pros: Great Value Cons: Sometimes Slow more

Great back nine. Slow play here. 2/25/2007

Great visual experience if you don?t play the front 9 boring. The back 9 is beautiful with good golf holes. Nice water holes and course was in good condition. The starter had the personality of a dead tree and made me feel I was bothering him. Can be really busy and slow but I do well playing there around 1pm. Don?t even bother late afternoon as people get off work and pack the place. \r \r With all my negativity the back 9 is a must play. Pros: Back 9 Cons: Front 9, slow play, the Starter more

Slow, poor upkeep, did I mention slow? 5/29/2005

Had a pretty poor experience there. Slowest round of golf I've played in some time (almost 6 hours!). No course marshalls anywhere to keep up pace. There was a fivesome ahead of us...Are we in Mississippi? The only yardage markers were the 150 stakes, some tee boxes had no signs to indicate distance or hole location. Greens and fairways were only in so-so condition. Front nine had a rather uninspired design. Back nine a little better. Very challenging layout. NO WAY this course is better than Langdon Farms... Cons: SLOW more

Great public golf 6/20/2004

Best public course in Portland for the $$. Wonderful greens. Pros: greens, design, service more

Challenging course 5/31/2004

One of the toughest courses I have played. Great conditions and friendly staff. The greens are tricky, and there are lots of water hazards on the second nine. Recommend this course to anyone up for a challenge. Pros: value, challenging, conditions more

Not your typical public course 5/22/2004

Fun course with lots of challenge. Better condition than most course I have played in the area. A bargain for the money. more

Love the course but.... 8/13/2003

I think Eastmoreland is a great golf course, but the pace of play has dramaticly slowed in the last few years. It takes at least 6 hours to play 18 unless you are there mid-morning, mid-week. Frount nine is pretty straight forward, back is much more interesting. It's a great value, and I would play here all the time if the pace picked up a little. Pros: Inexpensive, Nice course Cons: SLOW, SLOW, SLOW more

mudhole 3/5/2003

This course is okay during summer--hole #7 is a challenge and the back side plays tough. Stay far away from this course during the winter months unless you have mudders on your golf cart. more

OK for a City course 3/5/2003

Eastmoreland is a decent enough course for a City course, but can't compete with Langdon Farms, Tukwila, or even Heron Lakes. This course should not be number 3 on the list, maybe 9 or 10. Pros: Relatively cheap Cons: tough to get t-times, overrated more

Duffheaven 3/5/2003

Awesome course with a super staff both on the course and in the Pro-shop.Course is kept in excellent shape and is an absolute pleasure to play, not the toughest course nor is it the easiest course to play just great fun and enjoyment. Pros: good parking, excellent staff, Excellent Upkeep more

Mr 3/4/2003

Course is okay but the staff ruins the experience. I along with all the rest of us don't like snobs. After all it's only Eastmoreland. Not worth putting up with the attitude to play here. And you have to walk out of the course property to get to part of the back nine. Cons: hard to book, lousy staff more

A good day of golf 2/21/2003

Took the day off to play golf.... found a group to join at the first tee. Great golf course in the middle of a big city. Greens were in good shape for Winter. A day I would like to repeat.... including the birdie on the 17th hole. Pros: price, conditions, staff more

Enjoy Eastmoreland! Best Public Course! 1/3/2003

Eastmoreland is a challenging course and my favorite place to play! I have really enjoyed the faster play at Eastmoreland the past few years. It's enjoyable to play at a pace that doesn't take all day! The staff does a great job at keeping the speed at 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Like your Pace of Play Policy! more

The Great EM 12/24/2002

Eastmoreland is easily the best Muni in the state. Not only is it challenging, but great fun at the same time. It is always well maintained and allows for some great shots at the same time. Walter Hagan called the 13th hole, ""the greatest challenge in golf."" I would reccomend this course to anyone. Big Ray in the clubhouse is also a great guy. Pros: Wonderful Layout, Great Upkeep, Makes You Work Cons: Tight Fairways more

Slow play! 11/14/2002

I had the worst time ever playing on this golf course for the sole reason of slow play. It took almost 6 hours to play 18. To all of those hacks that complained about the marshalls, I say get off the golf course if you're going to play slow. The slow play is the reason that I will never play Eastmoreland again. Unless the marshalls keep play moving a little better. Pros: Scenic course Cons: slow play more

Traditional challenge 10/2/2002

I grew up playing golf at ""Easy"", but there is nothing easy about this course if played from the championship tees. Ben Hogan himself took a 13 on the par 5 13th hole. The 13th was the site of my eagle in route to a par 36 back nine and a 79 for the day. Eastmoreland is a beautiful tree lined course with water on 8 holes. Host of many USGA championships the $20 green fees are a steal. more

The best course around for your $$$ 7/29/2002

I love to hate this course. You'd better show up with your 3-iron punch shot here. One of the national golf publications called this the best golf value in town. I believe it. Small greens, large trees, blind approaches. Let's go! Pros: Inexpensive, Well maintained, tough test Cons: busy, slow play, course locals more

Please read: This course is Dangerous! 7/19/2002

Eastmoreland's rangers are creating an extremely dangerous environment. It is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. Rangers are necessary. They usually keep everything moving along so we can all get back to the office on time and safely. Eastmoreland's rangers rode my group like a Brahma bull. Insisting we pick up our play until I teed off into the group in front of us and almost hit a guy in the fairway. When I asked if that was good enough...the ranger said it was better but that we need to all keep it that tight between groups. That is crazy. I am not playing golf anywhere where management is forcing people to hit balls at me. Eventually someone is going to get seriously injured at this course...and all the golfing community will be able to say is..we tried to tell you so. Pros: big old trees Cons: Very Dangerous, Irresponsible Rangers, Blind Management more

Nice Course HORRIBLE Rangers 7/19/2002

Eastmoreland is a beautiful established course with a great location. BUT, I can not stress enough that it is not worth the hassle you get from the rangers. Literally, during the day..during the week...when the course looks like a x-mas tree lot the day after x-mas...they try to force you to drive into the group in front of you. They try to make you play best ball. It's all about hurrying you off the course. I have NEVER been so unnecessarily hassled like this before. And, I've shared this constructive criticism with the course management...they clearly don't care..or don't have a handle on their grumpy old volunteer rangers. BUT, until they fix this simple problem...I say wave off...it's not worth the hassle. Pros: low price, location, established landscape Cons: Harping Rangers, Angry Rangers, BAD RANGERS more

Bitter, Grumpy old men! 7/19/2002

I held off writing this review after my first two extremely negative experiences with Eastmoreland Staff but today was the last straw. The marshalls (i.e. angry, retired, probable hackers) make it their business to be surly, unwelcoming and downright rude. They hassle and hustle you through your round regardless of whether anyone is affected by it. They take the pathetic power given and exploit you like your on a military base. They'll also lie to you about the actual amount of play expected, we are all booked today and then you sit and watch as the tee stays empty. I urge you to either not reward this behavior at all by not playing their or by telling management these course cops have got to be reined in! Pros: Angry, Annoying, Geriatrics more
