Eastman Building Movers

Owner Message
  • Eastman Building Movers is a full service structural moving company that covers all of Rhode Island, Connecticut, & Massachusetts. With 70+ years experience, we are equipped to handle any project large or small. Whether it be moving, raising, heavy transport or shoring, we have the experience, professional staff and equipment to make your project run smooth from the early planning stage all the way to completion. Eastman Building Movers is more than a one dimensional company, and unlike a lot of other movers out there working just in the residential market, we are geared to take on commercial, historical, heavy hauling, rigging and retrofitting projects. We have an extensive track record to prove it. References are proudly supplied on request. We move stucco and wood frame homes, apartments, hotels, train cars, machinery, airport hangars, garages, tanks, barns, and boats are just some of the examples of the types of structures that can be relocated. We also raise structures for all types of foundation repairs or for basements to be installed under homes. A structure relocation is the process of moving a structure from one location to another. There are two main ways for a structure to be moved: disassembling and then reassembling it at the required destination, or transporting it whole. For the latter, the building may be pushed on temporary rails or dollies if the distance is short. Otherwise, wheels, such as flatbed trucks, are used. These moves can be complicated and require the removal of protruding parts of the building, such as the chimney, as well as obstacles along the journey, such as overhead cables and trees. Reasons for moving a building range from commercial reasons such as scenery, to preserving an important or historic building. Moves may also be made simply at the whim of the owner, or to separate a building from the plot of land that it stands. Homes, buildings, and other structures sometimes need a little bit of help. Houses sink, buildings lean, floods come and change everything. Structural steel and posts may be installed to level floor(s) in houses and buildings. Walls, for many reasons can start sagging, bowing, or leaning, requiring shoring to be applied. A basement can be added underneath an existing home by raising the building, excavating beneath, building the new walls/floor, and setting down the home on the new foundation.
