Good Food.. Sake Service 4/19/2004

We had a table of 10 people We waited for 15 minutes to place an order The food arrived fairly fast under 15 minutes They brought the food, through a couple of napkins at us, and spilled something on us And never came-back until it was time for the check The food was great We had the East Boat Special It really is enough for 2 people Best part about the special, all of it. You get 1 Dynamite, 2 fresh shrimps, 6 to 8 peace of tempura Several peace of sashimi, chicken teriyaki, and some California rolls. Over all a lot of food, but most important it was good food (FYI) the drinks are served in cans for about $1.25 per can Overall The service was unacceptable The only reason I will comeback is because of the table set up and the fresh tuna. Pros: The table setup, Fresh Sashimi Cons: , The Canned Drinks more

Good, best in neighborhood 8/21/2003

We have been eating here for over a year now. Fish is always good and fresh. Their wasabi tobiko is punishing (and bright green), and I haven't been to many other places which would serve the tasty gunkan-style monkfish liver. Their rice portions are quite big (bad), but at least the fish overhangs it to a good degree (good). Relatively OK selection of sake, with a strange inverted way of serving the higher end ones, where they place a glass inside the pine box and fill both. Service can be spotty, but things get done. Bar seating is preferred, as the sushi arrives much faster (that is very important for hand-rolls). Pricing is OK, $30-$60/person, depending on alcohol. Parking is good, it is located in the strip mall. Make reservations on Friday and Saturday nights, especially for groups 4 and up. Pros: Fresh, Wasabi Tobikko, Monkfish Liver Cons: Service, Rice Overabundance more

boring sushi/bad service 8/15/2003

we decided to give east a try, being new to the area, and eager to find a good local sushi place. the rolls were very standard. the service, although it could be just that one person, was very bad. the server was very scattered and it took us asking four of the servers to finally get our check. the place wasn't very crowded at all - and this was a friday night. asking for water also took several, unsuccessful attempts. I guess we'll just need to keep looking for a cool local sushi place. more

Great atmosphere 12/10/2002

Wasn't impressed with the lunch. Kaya Sushi which is nearby is much better for the food. The atmosphere is great though. Pros: authentic atmosphere, parking more

Wear clean socks 6/12/2002

If you like an authentic experience, this is the place. Small, intimate and most important, great sushi. The rolls a gigantic, the fish is fresh and the service is good. Sitting at the sunkin table is a good time and really relaxing. Although located in a strip mall, don't let this fool you. East has all the essentials for a good sushi restaurant. Pros: Fresh Food, Great Ambience, Good value Cons: Possible Wait more
