My brother hired Earl Weider Excavating to install a driveway. The estimate he gave was 8,000 dollars. After the work was complete he sent a bill for 18,000 dollars. My brother had already gave him 6,000 dollars upfront and was amazed at the difference from the estimate to the final bill. Earl weider did not even contact him to let him know that the final bill would be much more then the estimate. My brother offered him another 5,000 dollars to make the total 11,000 dollars which is 3,000 more than the origional estimate, however he refused it and decided to sue my brother. Besides this crazy hike in price, the job was not even done to specifications. Local laws state that the driveway must be at a 12% grade and he did the driveway at a 15% grade. So on top of being sued by this company, my brother has to hire another contractor to fix the shoddy work that was done by this company. This is a very shady operation and i would be very wary on hiring this company to do any work.
