the ambiance was nice whether you eat inside or outside. outside during a great day is wonderful. see people walking by. the calamari was crunchy and the salted just enough. the sauce is the awesome, dont know what it was made of but wow. yum yum yum... dont really for any other food there :) just the calamari, the couple of other main dishes that i tasted were too tasty or too much of oyster sauce . more

My Fiance took me to E&O trading company for an anniversary and I enjoyed every minute of the meal and the experience. A great dining experience is not only sharing it with people or someone, but it's also the food, the ambiance, conversation, and the friendliness of the wait staff. The appetizers were amazing, from the tuna tar tar, to this crispy corn, I knew once I tasted the appetizers, that the food was not going to disappoint. I also enjoyed the drinks, the drink menu consisted of martini's to an excellent wine list. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special night with a group of friends, or with a special someone on a date night. more

E&O is one of my favorite fusion restaurant located in San Jose downtown accessible by the light rail. I have dined here numerous times and was never disappointed. The ambiance is romantic yet casual. The service is always friendly and attentive. For your first visit I recommend the following dishes. Small Plates Indonesian Corn Fritters - Crispy fried corn dipped in sweet chilli soy sauce. Consider this their house specialty. If you ask your server for recommendation, he/she is most likely going to tell you about the corn fritters. Spicy Sweet Potato Flat Bread - For those of you who is not a big fan of fried food, the flat bread is a healthier alternative. Big Plates Shaking Beef - Tender cubed beef filet cooked in a tasty garlic sauce. This dish is done almost exactly according to the classic Vietnamese recipe. Shiso Pepper Grilled Salmon - Simple yet tasty grilled salmon completed with mixed greens. We went here for a friends birthday dinner. We did not get our order taken for over 20 mins. We had to ask where are waiter was. The food was ok but very expensive for the portion size. We went to dinner at E&O trading company on Feb. 17, 2008 as a party of seven. The restaurant was mostly empty, and we were sat at a table next to the window very quickly. It took a good 20 minutes until the waitress came over to take our drink orders, and then another 30 until she came to take our food orders. Through out the night, we had to either find water pitchers to fill the glasses ourselves, or obtain new silverware from the bar to replace the ones that were taken from us by the bus boys. Our wait staff were nowhere to be found most of the night. At the end of the night, after waiting a good 30 minutes for the waitress to come and take our credit cards, we finally had to go and find the manager to pay our bill. An 18% gratuity is included on top of the bill & tax for parties larger than 6. The manager did not show even after we complained to the hostess about the poor service.\r \r The food was pretty good, definitely not as good as it used to be 2 years ago, or as good as the price calls for. I go to E&O on Fridays usually a couple times a month just to hang out with friends without having to deal with the chaos of the usual downtown crowd. I always have a good time, get a good seat at the bar, and get great customer service. Everyone is friendly here, from the greeter at the door to the wait staff to the bartenders. They go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of, which I know is rare even in nicer restaurants. This Friday I went during Happy Hour and had the pleasure of experiencing Adam's incredible bartending. Not only is he great at mixing drinks, he is one of the most attentive servers I've ever had, providing me with refills before I even had to ask and pretty much anticipating any need I might have. I brought a couple first-time visitors with me and they were all impressed by the great service. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a good meal in a comfortable setting with high quality service. \r \r I recommend: Lettuce cups are the only ones I'll eat anywhere, and the shrimp soup is DELICIOUS if you're lucky enough to go during a week they're serving it (I get it without cilantro!) I try to go at least once every two weeks. I always sit at the bar and everyone is great. The food is excellent. I recommend the lettuce cups, crispy shrimp, panir naan, ribs, chicken sate, steak sate I can go on and on. Not only is the food good but the drinks are to die for. Adam the bartender is a master at drinks. He can take any drink and make it delicious. I highly recommend going here and they have a great happy hour. From 4-7 Monday thru Friday they have food items that are only 3 DOLLARS! And some drinks for only 5 dollars. You will not be disappointed. more

The food tasted great, service awesome. However, after 1/2 hour of leaving the restaurant, I had numbness in my head, neck and shoulders. This feeling I have had before eating at restaurants that use MSG in Its cooking. \r If you have any sensitivity to MSG, you may want to choose a different place to eat.
