You can do a lot better than StudentHousing 5/21/2012

I have to agree with NYDreams9010 because I also had the misfortune of living in one of their atrocious rooms while paying through the nose. I could not believe how their staff let themselves into my room all the time. As a female it was very unsettling and I later realized ILLEGAL. They have to give you at least 24 hour notice. The whole thing is ridiculous. I figured if I could pay them the kind of cash they were asking ON TOP of nickle and diming me, then I would just rent an apartment. I found it using eBooks called Landlord Links on their website (which I will happily share here with anyone else who needs help - it's landlordlinks DOT net). You buy a landlord directory for only $35 and then use this to search for a NO FEE apartment. I was surfing through LandlordLinks and found an apartment directly with an owner. I have been living on my own now for about two months and living in a studio all on my own is sooooo much better than living in these tight little rooms. If you are a student and you are looking to save some money you should definitely check our Landlord Links -- these are completely worth it !!!!! - AW more

Not What It Appears To Be 5/1/2012

I lived in EHS for a 9-month lease in a double room. If I had the option to re-live the experience I would not do it again in a million years. The websites made the residence look very appealing; however the rooms look absolutely NOTHING like they do on the website. In fact the entire building looks nothing similar to the photos on the EHS website. On the bright side there is a 24 hour gym and laundry facilities and security at the front so not just anyone can come in. However that's the extent of the pro's. The cons on the other hand: You have to pay 10$ to have a guest stay overnight on top of the 15,000$ spent for a VERY SMALL double room. Guests must have photo id or they cannot get in. The EHS staff constantly does room checks and when I first moved in I had issues with maintenance walking in when either no one was here or I was sleeping. As a young female this did not make me happy. Also the internet connection is SOO slow which is senseless when this is a building populated by college students doing college work; fast internet is essential.... Overall; the amount of money it costs to live in a room the size of a closet shared with 1 other person you may as well invest the money in a nice apartment in the same area. I absolutely LOVE the area of East Harlem/Upper East Side. more

The easiest transition to college life in NYC 3/8/2011

I’ve lived with EHS for almost 2 years and I’ve enjoyed the experiences that I’ve had here. Having moved from a small town to the big city, living in the 1760 dorm made me feel safe and free to meet other students. I’ve made life-long friends while living here and I look forward to the experiences that still await me. If you are moving to New York to begin your college career I would strongly suggest you checkout EHS and tour one of their buildings. more
