The business now known as Dutchtown ACE Hardware began in December 2005 by Scott Dillenback and John Macci. Scott and John were classmates and fraternity brothers in college. Scott was raised in Fort Plain, and John and his son Taylor have been residents of Fort Plain since 2002. Individually, Scott and John have always had a genuine interest in the hardware business, and that interest became reality in 2006 when they were approved as members of the ACE Hardware cooperative. Scott & John's target site for such a store was the Dutchtown Plaza in Palatine Bridge. With the support of the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, Patriot Federal Bank, ACE Hardware Corp., and the surrounding communities, Dutchtown ACE Hardware opened on June 21, 2007..
