These stores are great 5/26/2011

I wanted a bike with a more comfortable seat, but definately rugged enough for the trails. I also was able to find shoes for my spinning class that were comfortable. These stores are great and run by a great Christian family as well. I will be back, that is for sure. more

My experience at Durst can be described as nothing but outstanding 4/21/2011

I recently visited the Dust Cycle Shop located on University Avenue in Urbana and from the moment I walked into the store I was greeted and asked if I needed assistance. I admitted to the sales associate that I was new to biking and unfamiliar with bike construction and accessories and he took the time to answer all my questions. W when I bought a couple of accessories he took the time to show me on a storeroom bike as to how to attach them and even wrote out instructions as to how to use the gears on my bike. Later that day I visitied another local bicycle shop and was not offered the same level of assistance as I received at Durst. My experience at Durst can be described as nothing but outstanding and I will give them all of my future business. more

I recommend Durst for purchasing fitness equipment 4/18/2011

I recently purchased a new treadmill and had it installed in my home. The staff was very helpful in showing their selection of treadmills as well as other types of equipment. The installers were very professional and were in and out in no time. I recommend Durst for purchasing fitness equipment. more

I am so thankful 4/14/2011

I recently purchased a bike at the Durst Garage Sale. Got it home and was having issues with it not feeling right. This was my first 'geared' bike. Took it in, discovered I had purchased the wrong sized frame. The staff was wonderful. Fitted me with the correct size frame in the same model bike. Switched all my accessories over and had me riding correctly in 3 hours. I am so thankful they got me in the right bike and didn't charge me for my mistake. Would definitely recommend them!!! more

Exellent experience! I have been shopping at Durst in Urbana, Il. for years and have always been pleased with the sales and service. This is my second major purchase my most recent was for a cardio machine that would not hurt my two bad knees and Jason was so helpful explaining the machines and what would be best for my circumstances. Very knowledgeable, polite, proffesional and just a really nice guy. No pressure and a pleasure to work with. I highly recomend Durst if you are in the market for a quality bike or exercise machines. Great service department too!! more

They have almost anything that a cyclist might need in their stock, from shoes to jerseys to helmets. If it's not in stock, they'll order it. more

this is a great local bike shop. we've bought several bikes here over the years and always received excellent service. this is also the only place to go in CU for skateboard gear. the guys who help us with the boards are awesome and treat my kids extremely well. more

I would recommend this store for your cycling needs 3/18/2011

I had some minor repairs needed on my bicycle and visited Durst Cycle. They were helpful in determining what repairs were needed and gave an estimate. The work was good and the turnaround time was better than the staff estimated. I would recommend this store for your cycling needs. more

Caring, friendly and helpful 3/16/2011

The staff at Durst Cycle set me up with a new road bike for a triathlon. They were very friendly, helpful and really cared about getting me the right bike. They also set me up the equipment and spent all the time needed showing me everything. more

Great selection 3/10/2011

Durst's University Avenue shop (near the U of I campus) carries a full line of road and "mountain" bikes (hey - the closest mountain to this place is several hundred miles). You'll find some good quality bikes at the low end and you can also put together a custom setup for several hundred dollars. more

  • Durst Cycle and Fitness, located in Urbana, IL, has been a family owned and operated business since 1935. We have two different locations to better serve our customers. One of our locations is conveniently adjacent to the University of Illinois campus and the other is in Western Champaign to serve residential areas. Our years of expertise have made us experts in bicycle and fitness equipment.

    In the interest of improving health and providing fitness for people of all ages, Durst Cycle also offers fitness equipment as a complement to bicycling or for stand-alone exercise. These include treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, upright cycles, recumbent cycles and dual-action cycles, weight gym systems and benches.

    Currently we offer a wide selection of most types of bicycles, including:

    We have a complete skateboard department at our Champaign location. Also electric toy trains (at our Urbana location) have been sold and serviced since 1947. Antique bicycle restoration service is also available.

    Service is the bedrock of Durst Cycle in that we only sell what we can service. Ronald W. Durst, son of the founder, has managed the company since 1977.
