Great view of the city 3/17/2006

You haven't really experienced Pittsburgh if you haven't made the trek up to Mount Washington via the incline. A round trip ride will only cost you a few dollars, and it'll give you an unprecedented thrill and view of the three rivers. I suggest parking in one of the lots nearby at the bottom and making dinner reservations on Mt. Washington. It's a glass-enclosed incline, so don't worry about bad weather. more

A Pittsburgh thing (to visit) 10/29/2005

The Duquesne Incline is a unique attraction in Pittsburgh. The Incline goes up to Mt. Washington and is functioning transportation for locals as well as tourists. They have a nice staff that will talk to you and show you the cables, history, and so on of the incline. There is a nice overlook where you can see the downtown from. The gift shop is small but they have cute mementos. You can visit any day of the week, but if you visit on a weekend, sometimes the cars don't fill up and run as frequently as they do during the weekdays when everyone is using it for transportation. more

Unique Pittsburgh attraction 10/9/2005

The Duquesne Incline is a historic site in Pittsburgh that is both functional for locals to use and an attraction for tourists. The incline is only a couple dollars to ride in one direction and offers a great view of the city. The Duqesne incline has a gift shop and friendly staff that is willing to share information on the history of the incline. There is also an overlook with pay-binoculars for you to get a closer look at the city from up high. The incline runs all day long, so you don't have to schedule a visit. As soon as a car fills up, they send it on down. more

Built in 1877, the incline still serves the same purpose that it did then--transporting Mt. Washington residents to the city below. The Duquesne Incline is one of two fully...
