As the daughter of a resident who has been at Duncaster since 1999, initially with her husband and since then alone, I have had a lot of experience dealing with the staff and other residents. I... 10/10/2015

I am very impressed at the quality of life which is available to residents at all levels of their ability to be involved, or their need to retreat into their own territory. Duncaster is a beautiful, well-appointed facility with excellent, caring staff, a phenomenal offering of activities and stimulation, cultural and educational, intramural as well as with transportation provided by the institution to concerts, shopping, and other activities. The reassurance that once one is a resident, necessary transitions - from independent living to assisted living, from assisted living to skilled nursing - take place without any major administrative fuss, is a great comfort for the children of residents. The staff really cares. more

An engaging, like-minded community in which to spend this chapter of life! 7/13/2015

My experience at Duncaster has been excellent. It's a community of older people that kind of defies the description of most retirement communities, although our average age is pretty high. There's a great deal of diversity here, both career-wise and geographically. It's primarily a West Hartford community, since that's the closest big metropolitan area, but the backgrounds of the people I associate with vary greatly. I actually moved here from Texas, which is not unusual. It's a group of well-educated, well-traveled people. Duncaster is a small community of only about 200 residents. It's like a turn-of-the-century small town. It's common for us to know the first names of the staff. In my view, this is like a chapter in a book: the book of your life. It may be a fine chapter, and it may not be, but it is one of the later chapters. Duncaster is a compatible community in which to spend it. more

I'm lucky to be here! 7/9/2015

I've lived at Duncaster for four years the staff is exceptional! They care about our safety, they go out of their way to keep us informed so we are always in the loop and the service is good. You can have privacy or join other people, its very flexible. The landscaping is kept extremely well and there are always flowering bushes and trees. I looked around at a lot of places and they were the best I've seen, I'm lucky to be here and I'm not just saying that. I would recommend them to anyone. more

Above average service, would recommend 6/11/2015

I made the right decision at the right time to come to Duncaster. I am very satisfied with all the services. I can also give something back by serving on committees here. There are a lot of good people here. For retirement, this place has the things you need. They take care of your physical and medical needs. They are good about feeding, socializing and taking care of our health. They set up what we should do. All of the facilities are in this area, like swimming. They have services given for memory and things like that. There are services to help us go places as well. The whole thing is well organized. This is a community of people who work together to make the last years of life pleasant. Now and then there is insufficient amount of service in the dining room and I think they could clean more. However, I would recommend Duncaster. Jeffrey T more

Very interesting, comfortable, pleasurable, great experience 6/9/2015

I have lived at Duncaster for about four years. The retirement community is very well managed and the staff are constantly trying to improve. Everyone is very friendly and sharp. If you are looking for a retirement community, come visit, talk to people, and compare Duncaster with the competition. This community will undoubtedly come out on the top of your list. more

A wonderful experience. 6/8/2015

I've had a wonderful experience since I've moved into Duncaster. Everybody that works here is more than helpful. The facility has so much to offer as far as activities are concerned. All in all it has been a wonderful experience. more

It has met all of my needs. 6/5/2015

I live at Duncaster, and I would recommend it to others looking at continuing care retirement communities. I looked at other CCRCs and it seemed that at others, the people avoided each other. At Duncaster everyone is welcomed into the community, and there is always a lot going on here. The fact that the residents have a large say, is also extremely important to me. more
