I'm a middle school teacher. I got stuck in a DUI checkpoint on Cinco de Mayo. I drank responsibly, but how could I know what my alcohol concentration was? I was cooperative with the police officer and told him where I was coming from and that I had had a couple of beers (mistake #1), he got me out of the car and had me go to a staging area to do field sobriety tests, which I did (mistake #2), then he told me I had to blow into a breath testing device, which I didn't realize (and he neglected to tell me) I didn't have to do (mistake #3). I was arrested right there! I tested on another breath machine that said I was a .08%! I was FINE, didn't have any problems driving, communicating with the officer or doing those tests, but suddenly I was being accused of being a criminal! To say I was terrified is an understatement. I was also embarrassed and humiliated by the process of being taken to jail and treated like dirtball. On top of that, my teaching credential and job suddenly hung in the balance! Within days I was bombarded with junk mail from every sleazeball attorney out there telling me they were great AND cheap and I should call them right away!!! I've never been in trouble with the law before and didn't know what to do or who to turn to. Fortunately, a childhood friend had gone into the bail bond business. He had posted my bond, and told me about The DUI Guys, and attorney Philip Gagnon, who had handled his DUI and saved his butt from the State Insurance Commission. So I called. I met with Philip, explained my career and privacy concerns. Philip put my problems on his shoulders and dove in. He won my DMV hearing and saved my license, so I could work. In the criminal case, watching him work the cops on the stand, and dealing with the Judge and prosecutor was confidence inspiring. Getting the prosecutor to dismiss my DUI for infractions on the day of trial was the biggest relief ever! The DUI Guys saved my driver's license, saved me from a criminal record, and saved my career. Simply THE BEST.
