If you're looking to sell your jewelry, go here first! I was looking to get rid of an old engagement ring and decided to go to ""Jewelers Row"" in Center City to compare how much it worth with a few different jewelers. After searching online to see which stores actually bought jewelry in that area, I decided I was going to visit three that had the highest ratings on sites like this. Some of the reviews seemed too good to be true, but I figured I would at least get half of what I originally paid.
The first jeweler offered me 10% of what I originally paid for the ring. The second jeweler offered half of what the first jeweler offered me (5% of what I paid.) I decided not to go to the third jeweler after the second jeweler, The ring was only 4 years old and sat in a safe for 3 of those years. It was in excellent condition. I figured I might as well keep it with those ridiculously low offers. Both jewelers weighed and inspected the ring for maybe a total of 2 minutes. They tried to make it seem as if it was worthless. I guess they figure people are desperate or not knowledgeable and will accept any offer, no matter how low it is. I was not desperate to sell, just wanted to rid of it.
The next day I went back online and searched for a jeweler outside of Philly and found Dublin Jewelers. I read the reviews and they seemed to be ok, so I gave it one more shot. It was an hour drive from my house, but I already decided that if I got another outrageously low offer I was just going to keep the ring.
The store wasn't fancy like the ones in Center City, but there was nothing wrong with it. Had a family-owned feel, very welcoming. When I walked in I was greeted immediately. Let the jeweler know I was looking to get rid of a ring, he took it to an area and inspected it for about 5 minutes. He came back and offered me $100 less than what I than what I thought it was worth! I was shocked! After being low-balled a day earlier, I didn't have much confidence that this place would be different, but they were. I filled out a short form, only had to put basic information (name, address, etc.) and was given cash.
The staff was very friendly and personable. They definitely had knowledge. Informed me of some things I didn't even know about the ring. If I ever wanted to sell another piece of jewelry, I'm definitely going there. I don't have to waste time and money looking for parking either. I'm going to post this exact review on a few more sites to try to spread the word. Trust me, you'll save time and be very pleased.
I don't usually write reviews, but when I do, I write them for a great business. This is a great business! Thank you!
