Not even close! 6/9/2005

the worst BBQ I have ever had. way to salty, my wifes ribs were cold (OK not frozen but not even close to warm). If you LOVE vinegar, then the sauce is OK. The ambiance was great but the FOOD sucked. Pros: atmosphere, service Cons: FOOD, Price for what u got more

Dreamland 7/13/2004

Ain't nothing like em nowhere, except for the Dreamlands in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Mobile Alabama. Nothing better than the ribs in Tuscaloosa the Friday before a University of Alabama football game, except for the ribs after a U of A win. Pros: Easy menu., Ribs are great., Service is tops. more

Never Again 5/24/2004

I used to be a regular patron at this location, however the pork was too grissled the past few times I visited and the last time I went I ordered the ribs thinking that couldn't possibly mess them up, but somehow they did it. Your best bet is to go to Slopes, Smokey Bones or Sonny's, trust me on this. I've made my last trip to Dreamland, now as far as Im concerned, Nightmareland. Pros: Service more

Dreamland BBQ 5/15/2003

Of the fifty some odd barbecue restaurants I am familiar with in the state, this ranks near the bottom in flavorful barbecue. I know it has a great reputation and big following. Must be all hype. Pros: Smells delicious Cons: Tastes bad more

Above average ribs 4/12/2003

The ribs were ""above average"". They's best when not drenched in the sauce...ask them to hold the sauce and just apply it at your table. The pork was moist and tasty. I found the side dishes only ""adequate"" with a bit of an ""out of the can"" taste. Their sauce tends to be more ""spicy"" than ""flavorful"" and really didn't improve the taste of the meat. I'll eat there again, but I prefer Slopes and Williams Bros over Dreamland. more

Overrated 3/9/2003

This rating is made soley on the reputation of the Dreamland in Alabama. The restarant in Atlanta is not fit to carry the name. The Chopped Pork is extremely fatty with no smoke flavor. The service isn't great, and it is the most expensive BarBQue place I have ever been to. more

Very Disappointed 3/7/2003

It smells so good when you drive by, but when I actually went in for a meal, I was very disappointed! The ribs were not tender at all, and the wonder bread they give you, I was shocked! more

How much!?!?! 2/24/2003

This place is way to expensive for just decent BBQ. I think they might be ok if you haven't ever had really good BBQ and are not sure what you are tasting. Save you money (and it will be a lot, everything is a la cart) and go to Slopes, William Brothers or Fat Matts. This place is not worth the price. more

Better and cheaper choices abound 2/9/2003

My friends from Alabama swear by Dreamland, but they admit that the Roswell Georgia version of it falls far from the original. You pay several dollars more for food that is no better than any other bbq place. If you like the Dreamland sauce (its a bit spicier than most places), that's probably the only thing its got going for it. Slopes is right down the road and better, and the best BBQ in town is only a few miles away at Pappy Red's. If you want to be an educated BBQ consumer, stop in to Dreamland, but I doubt it will make your permanent bbq rotation. Pros: Unique sauce Cons: Overpriced more

Just Ribs! 2/6/2003

Best BBQ ribs in the world. Take home a quart of sauce. This is not the place for Brunswick stew, chopped beefor other fake barbeque. Stick with the ribs and you will think you are in heaven. more

As good as it gets! 1/8/2003

Best ribs i have ever eaten...a little bit spicy. Ain't nothin' loke 'em nowhere. more

Good Stuff! 1/8/2003

The best I've experienced in metro Atlanta! It far surpasses chains - Slope's, Sonny's, etc. Pros: Fast service more

BBQ snobs eat here 1/7/2003

The people who have rated the other BBQ spots have obviously never eaten here. GOOD! its getting hard to get a seat some days. Too many people are eating there. Pros: large servings, great taste Cons: have to ask for Fries more

the best 12/14/2002

this is the best place to get food.the best atmospher and the best service. more

Ribs Only Please 12/12/2002

The first 40 years, Dreamland survived on Pork Ribs alone. No stew, No slaw, No beans. I still think this is the best of Dreamland. Don't bother with the pulled-pork when you have these kinda' Ribs. That, and white bread dipped in their perfect sauce is all you need -- called a Rib Sandwich. Nothing else, thank you (though the beans are very tempting!). Pros: Ribs Cons: location more

Back to Tuscaloosa, you! 12/4/2002

I can only imagine the original shack in Tuscaloosa must be far better than this bland corporate version. It's far too expensive and you have to pay twice as much for stew as other sides. It's worth one visit to sample the oddball sauce, made with what could be turnip greens...? more

best damned stuff period 10/26/2002

premier ribs with sauce in the world. no beef is a PRO, not a con. this is a rib joint. it ain't fancy, they have plastic bibs, and it's all about the sauce -- spicy and hot, slathered all over fabulous ribs. appetizers? white bread and sauce. this plays KICKS. Pros: sauce, more sauce, ribs Cons: too few in the area, not open at breakfast, need one every corner more

the mcdonalds of bbq 10/26/2002

i went to the dreamland in birmingham and the ribs were rubbery and terrible. almost the moment i sat down i was delivered my food which makes me think the food is precooked and not cooked to order...i complained but the waiters just stared at me blankly. more

not what I expected 10/15/2002

The menu is VERY limited, as stated above. I ordered the combo platter for $8.99 which included ribs, pork, and 2 sides. The ribs were good, the stew was mediocre and had a plain tomato flavor to me, the baked beans were plain and sweet with molasses, and the pork bbq was disapointing (although a huge portion of it was received). No mention of different sauces on the menu nor by the waitress. And the sauce received was bland, probably so the older folks who patronize this place wouldn't get upset stomachs. Ribs and sandwiches alone are expensive, but the platters are fairly priced for the amount of food received. These are my opinions and I am not taking anything away from the previous messages. All bbq lovers have very different distinctive taste qualities and Dreamland did not satisfy me. Pros: big portions Cons: one sauce more

Ain't nothin like them nowhere! 9/20/2002

Get the ribs and whitebread! Hey if you're hungry order a whole slab and if you're not real hungry order a slab and split it with a friend. They are like the old chip commercial: You can't eat just one! Pros: Great ribs more
