The Valley's BEST Chinese food. NO KIDDING! 1/19/2009

This place used to be great, and then it wasn't. And now it IS again. I don't know what happened, and don't care, but the most delicious Chinese food around is back in this little storefront on Ventura. Not fancy (but not gross either) The sauces are irresistable, You gotta try the beef and onion dish- dont know what it's called but you wont want to share it. The eggrolls are new and improved (always the test of a a good Chinese retaurant.) I can't believe how many giant shrimp you get in their delicious shrimp dishes. (how can they afford to do that?) Check out the pottsickers the little triangle thingys. Mmmmm. Service is fast. Supervalue. These people have come back better than ever. Pros: Food is perfection. The best carryout ever. Cons: Dining room could be nicer. more

How does this place stay in business 11/26/2008

I live within 300 feet of this place, so it only made sense to give it a try even though I have a good takeout place already (search golden chopsticks on laurel). Ordered sesame chicken, which should end up tender meat inside a crisp shell with a sesame/soy tasting sauce. NOT rubbery dry chicken inside a limp soft shell in a sauce tasting mostly of ketchup. Dumplings were mediocre, and won tons in soup were overcooked. Pros: so few people there that takeout took no time from ordering to cooking. Cons: food. more

Worst Chinese Restaurant BEWARE! 5/11/2008

This restaurant has the absolute WORST OWNER OF ALL TIME. Not only is she unfair, but she is extremely rude and unreasonable. I ordered for deliver one day. Not only did I get the wrong order, but I was told that they could not bring me what I really ordered. So naturally, I asked if she could credit my credit card account. She said she would, but sure enought when I received my credit card statement she did not credit my account. So then I called her to see if I could get my money back. After argueing with her for 15 minutes. She finally gave in and told me to come by the restaurant for my refund for the food I never received. When I got there she started argueing with me again and refused to give me a penny. So I told her I would report her to the authorities & dispute the transaction with my credit card company which I did. Bottom Line the food is not the greatest, and the service and ownership (Anne) is the absolute worst I've ever come across. Not only will she never get my business, but I hope this convinces others to never try this place. IT IS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE THAT COMES WITH IT. Pros: None Cons: Endless more

Incomplete orders and terrible customer service!!! 2/29/2008

For the second time we recieved an incomplete order and no sauces. I call to let them know and was told by the "manager" we were too far away. What?! So I map it to find that we were less than three miles, which their menu states free deliver AND I got charged for delivery!!! I call her back and insist that she make it right. She tells me no! Way over an hour, about four more phone calls and I'd given up the rest of my order came. Yes, I was still charged delivery. People who practice business in this manner should e put out of business!!! I urge you to find another restaurant! more

Tasty, freshly-prepared food! 4/6/2006

My husband and I are "regulars" at Dragon X - we stop by (together or separately) a few times a month. I'm a big fan of the vegetable rolls (light and crispy outsides, with non-soggy insides) and I also love their Tofu with Vegetables (with the spicy orange sauce rather than the rather bland brown sauce they usually serve it with). When especially hungry, I'll also get Egg Drop Soup (a big bowl!). My husband is a big fan of their Kung Pao Chicken. Both of us adore their high quality vegetables, and the service is quite good. Pros: inexpensive, easy parking, tasty food Cons: no free tea more

Shockingly good, fast-food chinese or otherwise. 11/1/2005

Despite being a cheaper, white-room, 'fast-food' chinese' places, the quality rivals the more expensive cuisine in this city. I randomly chose it after moving here a year ago and was stunned. The very best fried rice I have ever tasted (no salt or seasoning required), very tasty eggrolls, and large portions on the dinner menus. The service is swift and polite, and they give you time to finish your soup before bringing out your meal. After visiting a few times, they already know what I order and how I like it prepared. Alas, the lunch special gives you not enough for leftovers, but enough so that you feel a little too full after finishing. Regardless, this is easily my favorite chinese restaurant in the city, far superior to the more glamourous PF CHangs or Kung Pow. It's a diamond in the rough and I kept reccomend it enough. Pros: shockingly tasty, properly prepared, fair prices Cons: $10 min for delivery more

Good Food 2/5/2004

I have to disagree with the overall rating from a previous reviewer. To offer a contrasting opinion, the orange chicken I had was the best I've had in the city, the fried rice was down-right delicious, and the chinese chicken salad is very tasty with an excellent ginger dressing. The food does not taste cheap or fast, but was savory and well prepared. It is all cooked to order, and tasted beyond what I expected. I have no problem calling Dragon X my local chinese take-out joint. Pros: easy parking more

the worst chinese food in the city 11/2/2003

antflicker Provided by Partner
I have never had such awful food - ever! The food was delivered and the chicken on the Chicken Salad way so dry it was like jerky. When I called to tell them about this, the woman who took my order pretty much told me that it was not the food, it was me. She said she tasted the chicken and it was fine. They did not even offer to redeliver another salad with chicken that was cooked correctly. Also, the fried potstickers were so soggy and bland that there are no words to describe it! In a nutshell, there are plenty of chinese restaurants in the city that you should not waste your money or tastebuds at this one. Pros: none Cons: overcooked, bland, stale more
