Great food, great people 12/16/2011

We've eaten there a few times when we visit this area and the food is always authentic and tasty. It is closer to real Chinese food than the typical American/Chinese food you may find at other restaurants, so it may seem a bit different than what you're used to. But go ahead and try it! The servers and managers are always friendly with us and our child, who also loves to watch the giant fish tank. Bathrooms are small but sufficient for hand-washing or a quick break. We recommend it. more

The best Chinese food I've had since moving here from North Dakota 2/27/2009

My family and I just tried the Dragon Gate for the first time since moving here from ND two years agao. I have been looking for the best chinese food for two years and have found nothing that compares to the Hong Kong in Bismarck ND. Well my wait is over! the food was just as good if not better than home. And the service was the best I have ever had. Yes we feel like home now. \r \r Ray Eisenmann and Family... Pros: Every thing about the place from the service to the food Cons: found none more

an insiders view 5/20/2008

here's the thing: i've worked in dragon gate for over a year. i've seen insects in the ice, mold in the bathrooms, food dropped on the floor and then served, forks knives spoons all dropped on the floor, put in pockets then replaces on tables. cups wiped out by hand then served again. ive seen flys in the kitchen and dirty dishes being replaced onto the tables. but yes, the food is amazing...i cannot lie. more

The closest to NYC chinese food I have had in South Florida 1/2/2008

The closest to NYC chinese food I have had in South Florida, and I have been to many restaurants in China Town. The host, Kevin never forgets a face. He remembers names too. My family have visited from up north and he remembers them too. The kids all love him and feel welcome because of him. All the wait staff are caring and wonderful. This is a ""must eat at"" place for chinese food lovers everywhere!!!!! Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Dragons Gate food tastes like it came out of a Dragons Backside 11/17/2007

Dragons Gate Restaurant, Pembroke Pines Florida. BAD CHOICE!!! \r \r My wife and I placed a takeout order which came out to about $38 and change.\r \r We ordered the following:\r \r Two Egg Rolls. Kung Po Chicken, Moo Shu Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein and Fried Wanton's with Meat.\r \r We ordered the Sezuan dishes medium.\r \r All the food was totally tasteless. How can a chef make red and green peppers tasteless?\r \r The Egg Rolls tasted like it was spolied. It was totally inedible. One bite and I had to pop it in a napkin.\r \r The Lo Mein was very mushy, cooked and tasted bad like it was spoiled. Our opinion was that it was just old. Who knows how long the noodles were sitting on the stove?\r \r The Moo Shu Chicken was also tasteless and the pancakes hard and cracked.\r \r The Fried Wantons tasted stale. They had a very strange taste\r \r My wife and I eat a lot of local Chinese, Japanese and Thai Restaurants and we have never had anything this bad.\r \r We just decided to throw the food in the trash.\r We ate about 7:15-7:30 and soon after my wife became nauseous and felt like throwing up. About an hour later I felt the same way.\r \r We don't usually worry about blowing $38.00 bucks on anything but after we both became sick I decided to call the restaurant and ask them to credit my credit card. The Manager gave us a lot of problems and a scream fest started.\r \r All I can say is DO NOT EAT THERE!!!!..\r \r And first thing this coming Monday Morning is to call my Credit Card Company and put a stop payment on this order and then I will call the County and report them for selling bad food.\r \r We have never had this type of experience.\r \r As a last note: If you want to eat good food oriental food in the Hollywood area, go ahead and eat at Emerald Coast in Pembroke Pines and Eddie Hills Sushi in Hollywood. These two restaurants are what we base other restaurants on. Cons: Do not eat there more
