Downtown Babies & Kids Inc

My oldest son started at Downtown Babies in October of 2007 and my youngest son in October of 2009. DTB has had its ups and downs, but -- after visiting several other daycares -- I've never felt that my sons could receive the same loving and nurturing care as with Downtown Babies. DTB's new director has really changed things around and we are 100% satisfied with the care they receive. Although DTB is a little more expensive than others, it is totally worth it! My son is 3.5 yrs old and is already adding numbers, writing his name, fully potty trained, etc. They have a GREAT VPK program and we won't be going anywhere else until Kindergarten. more

I could've totally written this review myself given that I agree wholeheartedly. I'm currently looking for another place. The tuition has gone up to $900 and whatever was problematic when this user wrote this in January is even more problematic now. I actually thought that it was a good place for my little one initially but there have been so many recent changes and not any for the better as far as I can tell. At least when we started there seemed to be very kind staff that seemed to love the kids, but now most of them are gone with only maybe 2 left that will actually put any effort into working on problems and give the little ones affection. I'm frustrated and sad for my little one but can't find an open spot anywhere else right now :( Pros: 1-2 teachers left in infant room that are fantastic Cons: high tuition, poor care more

Downtown Babies has a mixed reputation around town and seems to be pretty polarized. Either folks love it or they say that's it;s not worth the money. We would fall into the latter bucket. Unfortunately all we heard was good reviews until we actually had our baby there. Now that we've been looking for a new care facility we have started to hear from some of the other folks in the business that they have heard some of the similar things we have been telling them. Perhaps Downtown is better with the older children but the infant care is definitely not worth the money they charge ($860). If you want ""zone"" coverage where no one takes responsibility for the care of your child and when asked about it says well that wasn't my fault. If you want to walk in and see your baby playing by himself in the middle of a room with no interaction. If you want folks that can't follow simple instructions as to when to feed your baby and when to put them down for naps. If you like to drop your child off in the morning and see them already short staffed for the day. If you don't care that you may pick your baby up lying in clothes soaked with milk that has come back up or get there to change his diaper and find that not everyone there knows how to properly clean when changing a diaper. If all of this is worth $860 to you well then have at it. Don't get me wrong Downtown babies is definitely a safe environment and you don't have to worry about your baby's welfare but for $860 one should expect a little more than a nap and feeding facility.
