Since DAP got in trouble for adding a fifty-cent surcharge to credit and debit charge transactions last winter, as of yesterday, they figured out a legal loophole to get around this - by offering a ""cash discount"" to customers not paying with a card. \r
\r
This is, however, in violation of Visa's merchant agreement and until they print and post new price signs with the fifty-cent price raise stating that cash payment will receive a fifty-cent discount, they are in violation of this rule: \r
\r
No Surcharging: Always treat Visa transactions like any other transaction; that is, you may not\r
impose any surcharge on a Visa transaction . You may, however, offer a discount\r
for cash transactions, provided that the offer is clearly disclosed to customers\r
and the cash price is presented as a discount from the standard price charged\r
for all other forms of payment found on page 15 of Visa's merchant agreement PDF. \r
