Strong, effective massage 12/12/2007

Have you ever had a back pain that it seemed nothing would cure? Marie Owens of Downtown Acupuncture recently worked a chronically troublesome spot in my back and shoulder over and over using varying amounts of pressure and techniques from different angles until the pain finally gave up and dissolved. She went after it! It was a huge relief to feel the tightness give way and to have my normal range of motion return. Marie?s strong hands and great understanding of the body make for a wonderfully therapeutic and relaxing massage, as vigorous or gentle as you need it. She will adjust the massage to focus where you want it, homing in on the areas of tension till they melt away. Marie has also helped me become more conscious about other important aspects of self care such as stretching and staying hydrated. I like to reward my staff with gift certificates for her services. more

Professional massage on lunch break - great for working pregnant women! 12/9/2007

I have received a massage from Pat every two weeks since I first became pregnant. She is conveniently located in a professional building on Court Square, has a flexible schedule and is reasonable priced. Although I have had many ""spa massages"" in the past, working with Pat really has been massage therapy. She asks which parts of my changing body need help each time I visit and concentrates her massage on those ailing areas. I'm now in my eighth month and have had a fantastic pregnancy -- I attribute my lack of serious aches and pains to a procative approach working with Pat. Getting a massage in the middle of a work day may seem like a luxury, but it has been extremely beneficial - and you'll feel rejuvenated under an hour! I look forward to continuing to see Pat after having my baby -- when I really will need more relaxation therapy than pain therapy. more

Tops in the Downtown Financial District 12/7/2007

Outstanding massage! Marie is experienced, professional and personable. She is perfect for both stress and old athletic injuries, aches and pains. Marie communicates with you to get the pressure right. I have been a patron for close to two years and she has maintained a consistently high level of quality service. Good Financial District location and reasonable pricing. Perhaps not pertinent to the service but Marie know more about the Red Sox than most sports beat writers. Pros: Work stress leaves the minute I get in the door more

I really enjoy coming here! 12/6/2007

Marie Owens is wonderful masseuse. She?s knowledgeable and fun. If you want to relax, you?ll relax. If you want to chat, she?ll chat. I always feel so relaxed when my session is over. I will continue to come back with no doubt that I am getting my money's worth! \r \r Steven Ellis\r Boston more

Masterful massage by a grounded, experienced professional. 12/6/2007

I have a chronic pain condition and have gotten a lot of massage over the years. I'm also a former dancer, so am very tuned in to my muscles. Pat's massages are the gold standard that I compare every massage to. (My location and schedule sometimes make seeing Pat impractical; otherwise I wouldn't bother seeing any other massage therapists.)\r \r Even before the actual massage is begun, Pat's manner gets me starting to relax. She has a calm presence and is a really good listener. This way of being extends to the massage itself---it seems like she's really listening to my body. She doesn't just have a ""routine"", she senses where I especially need to have work and how much pressure to apply and for how long. Her touch is very knowing and healing.\r \r But no one is a total mind-reader, so it's important to me to work with someone who is open to requests. For instance, sometimes my back is really hurting and I like to start there. This is unconventional and many therapists have a hard time with it. They have a sequence they like to go through. I understand the rationale for doing things in a certain order, but sometimes the reality of how I'm feeling kind of trumps that. I appreciate that Pat is flexible and confident enough to respond each situation. Her experience and professionalism are very reassuring. I feel I'm ""in good hands"" and safe.\r \r Pat also takes a lot of care in setting up the environment. Every detail---the lighting, the music, the table, the look of the place---is soothing and pleasing. more

Experience the healing hands of experienced professionals. 12/5/2007

Relaxing, professional, therapeutic and honest are only some of the words that describe the atmosphere at Downtown Acupuncture & Massage. The practitioners have many years of experience in several techniques and the versatility necessary to treat a wide range of clients. If you are stressed out, injured or just plain worn out from life's demands, this is a destination that should be checked out. If you can be helped, you will be helped. I am not one to casually choose massage but have been rewarded each and every time. In addition, the therapists have learned their trade at formally recognized institutions and are licensed both nationally and statewide. Downtown Acupuncture and Massage is conveniently located, accessible by public transportation and an extremely fair and cost effective therapy. more
