I have a chronic pain condition and have gotten a lot of massage over the years. I'm also a former dancer, so am very tuned in to my muscles. Pat's massages are the gold standard that I compare every massage to. (My location and schedule sometimes make seeing Pat impractical; otherwise I wouldn't bother seeing any other massage therapists.)\r

Even before the actual massage is begun, Pat's manner gets me starting to relax. She has a calm presence and is a really good listener. This way of being extends to the massage itself---it seems like she's really listening to my body. She doesn't just have a ""routine"", she senses where I especially need to have work and how much pressure to apply and for how long. Her touch is very knowing and healing.\r
\r
But no one is a total mind-reader, so it's important to me to work with someone who is open to requests. For instance, sometimes my back is really hurting and I like to start there. This is unconventional and many therapists have a hard time with it. They have a sequence they like to go through. I understand the rationale for doing things in a certain order, but sometimes the reality of how I'm feeling kind of trumps that. I appreciate that Pat is flexible and confident enough to respond each situation. Her experience and professionalism are very reassuring. I feel I'm ""in good hands"" and safe.\r

Pat also takes a lot of care in setting up the environment. Every detail---the lighting, the music, the table, the look of the place---is soothing and pleasing.
