I went to Dowe's in 2003 and had a great experience-the food was really good (the best lobster bisque I had ever had) the jazz artists were excellent & the dance floor was a nice touch that is not often found in jazz restauants/clubs. Overall, the atmosphere was classy and warm. I returned the following year and was BEYOND DISSAPOINTED. After being perfunctorily greeted, seated, and handed a menu that consisted of a laminated piece of fluorescent paper by a waitress wearing tight black clothing and a light-up necklace, my fiance and I were extremely confused. Dowe's had seemed to be a cultural beacon in the city--finding it cheapened was just sad. All we could do was leave. Unfortunately, a once-worthwhile place is now a waste of time-- without even an explanation as to how it got that way.
Pros: seated promptly
Cons: few food options, cheap atmosphere
