When a craving for seafood hits, there's no better place to go than Dover Strait. Specializing in the preparation and cooking of seafood, I've been assured that the various water-locked dishes they serve are among the best in the area. My brother swears by their escargot (a fancy French term for snail) and my mom claims she hasn't found anywhere that serves a better calamari. I can't verify this, as I can't eat seafood, but I've always found my mother and brother to be a good judge when it comes to food, so I take their word for it.
However, while Dover Straits is primarily a seafood joint, there are "land foods" available on the menu. And these are delicious, as well. The cuts of red meat are top-notch, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection.
While it's not a fancy restaurant, per se, you do want to avoid heading out there for dinner in your most casual clothes. You don't need to dress up, for instance, but you may want to put on some khakis and a nice shirt.
The prices are high, but are very reasonable for the quality of the food, in my opinion. The restaurant itself is visually pleasing to the eye and is very clean--a quality that I deem completely necessary for a sit-down restaurant.
The servers for the most part are helpful and friendly. Service is fairly quick. Some nights, you may even be able to enjoy some live entertainment, as they sometimes bring in people to play for restaurant-goers. You can even dance to the live jams, if you wish, as there is a dance floor there, as well.
